There will be more. Some may be adapted from the current collection if it makes sense, and there are some new ones on the way as well.

For the connection between your play out machine, and Breakaway’s machine… go 100% digital if you can. The benefit for sound quality (and noise floor) can not be overstated. You will know once you make the switch from analog to digital audio path. 😉
perhaps "hardware-software" paradigm has indeed been sticky.
If it’s digital processing, it IS software… Period. As far as stability of Windows, if you start from a regular retail or oem version that hasn’t been tweaked by Dell or whoever else… then it will be rock solid, as long as your memory doesn’t have any issues (that can be & should be tested).

I managed over 200 Windows machines at my last day job, and the ONLY failure we had in 4.5 years was 1 hard drive went. That’s to be expected (or even more) since we had 2 drives in many of those machines too. Problems with uptime caused by Windows itself: ZERO**. We were running Windows XP SP1 on most of them, with maybe 40-ish of the ones we added later on being XP SP2. Mostly untouched once we got them running, and behind a Foundry router performing firewall duties. You should definitely firewall the machine so it’s only accessible from the outside via a non-standard VNC port or some such.

** The only problem we ran in to is that Windows XP (maybe other versions, haven’t had the time to test it, hehe) has a "bug" where after exactly 365 days the audio subsystems will refuse to work. So… the only downtime you’ll really need is once a year you’ll have to reboot Windows. 😆 But other than that, you should be able to run 24/7/365 non-stop. If you use a USB flash drive instead of a hard disk drive, then you can extend the possible failure of the machine to more like 20+ years when you’ll be dealing more with the mainboard’s power systems and few moving parts (fans) than anything else.

In all of them, you right click on the task bar, go to Toolbars –> Breakaway X where "X" is whatever version of Breakaway you’re wanting the toolbar for. It’s the same in all versions. Did you actually check to see? 🙄

It sounds good. How does it compare to other stations in "your" market?

Good to see you over here GAP. Always liked your presets for SS2, despite the flaws of the processing itself. 8)
I’m not that new to Breakaway, weve been using for a year for FM broadcasting, but I’m new to this forum that’s right. We were looking for some hardware processing, and if Breakaway does it with advanced configuration, that would be amazingly great ! 🙂
The reason i put "hardware" in quotes is because any digital processor out there is actually software. People may try to confuse and dis one or another method of getting things done, but when it comes down to it… it’s just code that’s processing the audio signal however the code was designed.

Actually when you get down to it… centralized CPU processing has way less in the way of stopping developers from doing what they want, which is why even DSP designs are moving to a centralized & modular setup. It’s just way more flexible.

And yeah, the Breakaway box is going to just smash the other guys out there now… It’s such a complete set of tools for talented processing engineers to hone in on their perfect sound. Even without the MPX clipping backend it’s over 150 controls.
Thanks a lot for the answer 🙂 I always was wondering what was the difference between Broadcast and Speaker. Now here it is… I’ll try it as soon as I get my license.
There’s a relatively complete speaker controller in it, with EQs, totally tweakable dynamic (based on volume control) Loudness, high & low pass filtering (such as for building a cross over), Delay for time alignment, adjustable bass clipping, polarity invert, inject pink noise, source routing, and adjust out gain…. on every output channel. up to 4 stereo pairs. 🙂
"Hardware" box ? What is that ? May I have missed something ?
If you’re new here, then there’s probably a lot of topics you haven’t read yet. 😉

There will eventually be a box available for purchasing. Other than that it has full control of everything, and also has the optimized "over-unity" MPX clipper backend, I can’t say anything else about it yet.

how about… Breakaway Live. 😀 Go into your Settings –> I/O Config and change the "Mode" from "Core 1-4: Broadcast Mode" to "Core 1 Speakers, Core 2-4 Broadcast", and click Finish button at the bottom.

Then when Breakaway Live main window comes back on screen, click Settings and you should see this:

Click on "Parametric Equalizer" and there you go. Don’t forget to save your settings in case you ever need them again, or want to play around with different versions of your correction EQ.

What I do to calibrate is run slow sine-wave sweeps up & down and listen and EQ so that there’s no hills or valleys, and so that no "section" of frequencies (like bass, mids, upper mids, treble) are louder than another. Also don’t forget to give yourself enough "EQ Headroom" to prevent distortion if you’re turning any of the gains up, instead of down. (you’ll probably have a bit of both up & down)

Could be a firewall issue even, with Windows Firewall. Have you tried adding the port numbers it uses explicitly in addition to the software explicitly ?

What kind of processing are they using on the vocals? And can we get some un-processed samples?

When the "hardware" box comes out, you will be able to have total control of the processing.

Sounds like you’re trying to have the packets routed from LAN to LAN on a local NAT router, but your router isn’t setup to properly handle "loopback" connections.
