Membersounds like a GPU or possibly memory. if the GPU is integrated into the mainboard, then… by proxy, it’s the mainboard. 😉
tried re-seating the memory yet?

MemberA Duo is more than enough, but you might want to get a quad anyways to allow for future expansion. Don’t even consider the i3 over a Core 2 Quad. i3 isn’t that great. i5 and i7 are great. 🙂 But I would rather have a Core 2 Quad, than an i3.

MemberIt shouldn’t have any overshoots. What it’s doing is using progressively "cheaper" non linear filtering, and some other optimizations in the audio path. Until you get into the low CPU modes which are using a less CPU intense clipper (but based on the same technology) that isn’t quite as clean as the full modes, basically because it’s doing the same amount of clipping but in a "cheaper" way as well – done for the purpose of reducing CPU use, not latency so much.
the disadvantage is a bit lower quality sound.
understand? or more confused?

MemberBreakaway Audio Enhancer is 2.0 channels only.
There will be a theater product with at least 5.1 surround, and UPMAX II algorithm built in (!!!) some time in the near future. It’ll blow your mind when you hear how good it is. Although many live events use it, like the SuperBowl, Olympics, and tons of network TV stuff, so you already hear it more than you probably imagined.

MemberThe next test would be to record the output of all of the programs you are testing, at the correct sample rates, save to WAVs and put them into a program like WinABX… and blind ABX test them… to see if you can ACTUALLY hear a difference to a statistically significant level.
It is impossible to be completely unbiased, no matter how hard any of us try, it is a naturally occurring phenomena that is unavoidable if we know what the source is. So you must blind ABX it, or any results are not objective at least up to the point of "can you hear the difference at all, or not".
If you can really hear a difference, then which one sounds "better" is obviously subjective. But the first step is to prove to yourself that you can really hear the difference at all.
Good luck. And post your test results here if you find anything conclusive.

From the latest Winamp, v5.581. Not sure if it’s newer than anything past, but… yeah. It’s still in the installer. Not sure where you heard it wasn’t.

Member
When will the new Breakaway product versions hit the Internet?
I have no dates to give yet. In all probability, it won’t be announced. Quality is infinitely more important than deadlines.JesseG
MemberI mastered Nicki Minaj’s debut a few weeks ago, I’m sure she probably has some good hookups for weaves. HOLLAAAA
Yea, we have mentioned it before, but that probably should be noted somewhere in the config itself. Like a config quick help "popout" thingy. Good ideas being had, as usual, and Leif kicks ass by accepting most of them. 🙂 Just locking up the computer is pretty decent. In my experiences I’ve ended up with an Insta-BSOD. Unfortunately there’s no way that I know of to detect if a soundcard actually supports KS or not, without just trying it and seeing what happens. @_@ Gotta love Windows, but ehh, at least in Vista and 7 we don’t need Kernal Streaming anymore. The new Breakaway stuff will support Vista/7’s new audio engine fully. 8)

MemberI would just upgrade your setup honestly. A P4 is pushing it, and you don’t really want to generate that kind of heat 24/7.
I have some public wishlists on NewEgg for decent machines that most people would find astonishingly cheap. Like under $300 for a system with equal specs to a $1000 Dell.
I’ll have to do up 1-2 wishlists for my own suggested Breakaway boxes. I don’t recommend under $300 cos there’s things that can be done to improve your chances of not losing reliability. 8)

That being said… have you tried DPC Latency Checker?
http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtmlHave you tried updating your mainboard’s chipset drivers? and GPU drivers?
What language do you speak?,, in case someone here also speaks it.

Memberyou probably just changed some hardware recently?

MemberI’ll poke Ed about setting EdCast up on sf.net or something. I don’t know how many people would be interested (or capable) of making it better, but it’s worth a shot I guess. Ed’s pretty crazy busy working for Ando over the last 5+ years.
For 99% of use though, the presets that CT put into its codec (use the newest version possible) that the regular EdCast uses is as good a quality as you can get anyways. Only in specialized situations does that other version offer any advantage. In my opinion.

HE or PS profile? That’s an important factor at those bitrates.
