I may try wiping the computer clean and re-installing windows, I’d thought of that. I figure I’d try finessing the wav/ds/ks ins/outs. In particular, I thought I’d try using a different output, since it seems that the output is most affected when it starts skipping. (the pilot flutters with the stutter)

Thanks for all the suggestions, thus far.

I prefer a more subtle approach.

    targets:
    50
    25
    25
    50

    gain:
    4
    4
    4
    4

    atten
    2
    2
    2
    2

    attack/release:
    50
    50
    50
    50

Your mileage, your market, and your competition on your dial may vary.

The issue could be in the exciter, now that I think about it…I’m scared to run an additional dll on this particular machine.

The cpu is screaming at 80-90%…for now. (Its a little below spec…heh)

Ill try the 50 pre setting tomorrow. Brilliant…almost like I’m talking with the guy who designed the thing! 😀

BBP is more like having 14 grand worth of gear: a 10k box plus something like an Ariane.

Mono compatibility is extremely important to me, the stereo control in challenger is amazing.

BBP has it’s own signature sound: I hear zero grunge and a much more "analog sound"…like analog, but perfected somehow.

Hmm. For whatever reason, I still prefer the up-close, apparent dynamic range sound of Plutonium over anything else I’ve heard come out of Breakaway.

Cosmic is my favorite preset in the Omnia 6, because it gives an up-close, consistent open, and potentially lethally loud sound on an incredibly W I D E variety of formats. Same thing with Plutonium. I just wish I could back out the highs a little, and it’d be perfect!!!

Although, what I DID get out of your suggestion is to adjust Stereo Challenger differently, and for that, I thank you.

I’ll give it a try. Thank you!

One of the more interesting things that I’m able to notice while a/b’ing is that if we were running BBP exclusively on both signals…I’d feel an urge to back OUT of our mic processors. BBP is much more kinder and gentler to voice than it’s processor-in-a-box brethren…and for whatever reason, requires less mic processing.

I do notice with my BBP plutonium setting: (1.5 drive, 70 range, 50 speed 50 power, basically flat bass, no bass plugin, 2 and 2 for impact/clunk) that some consonant/plosive sounds in voice end up sounding greatly exaggerated.

For building a dedicated processing box, I prefer using the 0404, but my next card purchase will definitely be the Marian Trace card. $250 USD?!? Throw it in a $600 machine, purchase Breakaway and you’ve stepped into world class processing for just a hair over a grand. What a wonderful world.

I’m running BBP on a P4 here in the absolute lowest cpu setting…the cpu itself is screaming at 93%. This is a good thread, because,if possible, I would like to give this machine a little more headroom, if possible.

    What can be disabled?
    🙂

I will give that a shot tomorrow. So I take it you are or have run an emu 0404 using line inputs and a line output to feed a transmitter?

    Thank you.

I don’t know enough about operating systems and driver loads, but I can say with 100% assurance that I’ve never seen an automation system not run on top of Windows (or Linux), unless it was DOS based.

I tried that Rustonium preset into an actual FM exciter. It certainly has a more open sound than our Omnia 6, it’s not as squashed. However, it does lack some song-to-song consistency.

Our station plays the occasional Ramones or Clash song from the 70’s/80’s and when they come on, they sound a little thin. However, today’s stuff sounds spot on with that preset…so if you’re exclusively playing stuff from the last 10 years…it’s a home run.

Yeah, I thought about using an 0202 I have lying around as input and the 0404 as output…or vice versa. Damn!

I have the latest patch mix software…it’s just confusing as hell…I end up with the input and output mixing together.

If breakaway’s pipelines would show up somehow in the patch mix software…it could work.
