Thank you for the report! I may have screwed something up. Will look into it.

Nice tip! I had no idea it had command line parameters 🙂.

Hey Appie, are you using Airomate? make sure you are choosing Channels: 2 (Mix) in the BBP I/O configuration, and make sure Airomate is really outputting 19000 Hz Pilot and RDS simultaneously.

Lee, I try not to 🙂.

No need, 0.90.77 is up already, with updated Point Blank preset and several bugfixes.

    Appie, take a listen 🙂.

I see now, all makes sense. Was just learning how the new stuff works.

I’d say you’re doing extremely well considering there’s no freaking manual. I’m about to start writing it. Not looking forward to it…

I thought it’d be good to have Core 1 as the speaker output and Core 2 for streaming but then I heard the “Live Demo” thing. I guess it can’t be done with only a single core registered?

Actually it can — using just the 1 core you bought!

The Encoder plug-in output is before the audio gets sent to the speaker controller. Thus, if you run the encoder as a plug-in in Breakaway Live, you can do any amount of speaker equalization (to calibrate your own monitoring setup) without affecting the outgoing stream at all.

    Best,

I believe the glitches happen because it doesn’t have Adaptive SRC

100% correct. If there’s nothing to pick up the slack, there will be regular glitches. Problems don’t fix themselves 🙂.

Regarding the output repeating: Good point. I’ll do it.

Recarding the layout, that’s not so easy to do. Different things have different constraints.

For example, what if you choose to view only the meters, and then make the window completely square?

Or, how about selecting Oscilloscope Only and then dragging the window into a flagpole? (Same with RTA).

I don’t know how to make thin work conceptually. Could you make some mockups and show me?

I tested the point blank preset a few days .

The agc seems to have a problem when a bassdrum kicks in .
Like this song from Capella – You and me
Its pumping and breathing , i moved the sliders but no results .

    I’ll let Lee XS know.

Cixel, you’re absolutely right on both counts. In fact, I’ve been planning to do it (I also realized the need while tweaking my speakers), just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Replaced the photos above. Added black cloth in the bass ports, so you don’t see the white padding inside. Made a big difference 🙂.

Also, the computer is now completely done.

It’s a Celeron E1200 computer, and it boots in 31 seconds, measured from the time I plug the cable in, to when the user interface is ready to use!

It also needs no shutdown — it’s fine to just pull the power cable. In fact, I’ve tested several times, inserting a coin and then pulling the power cable only 1 second after… and it still remembers the coin when it boots up again!

Windows XP Embedded, on a cheap 2gb usb stick… Can’t beat it 🙂.

    Hi Erik!

For LiveLink to work, please make sure Breakaway Live is in Broadcast Mode, not Speaker Mode.

    Does that solve the problem?

Is it possible to use SPDIF as input with BBP ASIO?

Yes, absolutely. BBP ASIO doesn’t care. But, as always, there’s a gotcha:

To get MPX Out, you must run BBP ASIO at 192000 Hz. This means that all inputs and outputs will run at 192000 Hz, S/PDIF included.

S/PDIF wasn’t meant to run that fast. It will work, but a lot of devices don’t support it.
Also, to use SPDIF input, you need to either let the incoming S/PDIF be the clock master (which will probably be 48000 Hz — wrong rate!) OR you will need a sound card with a sample rate converter on the S/PDIF input. That’s a different price class altogether. We’re not talking the €150 ESI Juli@ or M Audio Audiophile 192, we’re talking the €459 Marian Trace Pro AE.

For all its flaws, analog is much easier to deal with. Signal too hot for the input? Two resistors per channel — done. Signal too quiet for the input? Boost it, either in software or by adding an amplifier, and you’re done. Interference? Get a better cable and eliminate ground loops — done.

    Hey Torsten,

I appreciate your understanding. It’s a tough balancing act, because I love bragging about the innards of my inventions 😉.

    1. Yes! Look-ahead limiting preceded by bass clipping.

    2. In Breakaway Live, it’s 18dB per octave. In BBP, it’s a brick wall. I haven’t bothered to measure the exact number of dB’s, but if you set the high pass to 30 Hz, and sweep from 40 to 20, it will be flat down to 30, and completely gone from the oscilloscope at 25. It’s a 16384-tap FIR filter  . Why settle for sufficient when there’s overkill? 🙂

    3. No. I used Dual Band AGC in earlier algorithms (OctiMax Classic, 1999-ish), but later empirically determined that wideband with EQ on the control chain had much fewer drawbacks. For example, a coupled Dual Band AGC eats bass-heavy stuff for breakfast. This isn’t a problem with the music either Bob or Frank listens to, but I like Infected Mushroom! 🙂
