The new pipeline worked a LOT better on my quad core desktop (which i use for development at home in thailand), but no better at all on my quad core laptop (which i use for developent when i’m elsewhere).
I’m not sure what to do about it.. I’m REALLY getting tired of the problems with it, it needs to *just work* already, and I’m not currently seeing any development from the author (VAC). I’ll start bugging him again — I don’t have a whole lot of options on this particular thing. It’s the one part of the breakaway package i didn’t write myself and thus have no control over — of course it has to screw up. 🙁.

LeifKeymasterGood question, Lee. They both work great. Juli@ is a little cheaper and has the flippable i/o card with balanced/unbalanced, and you don’t need a breakout cable, so I suppose Juli@ is a better buy. Both are just as usable though, and audio performance is identical to my ears.

LeifKeymasterJesse, his original uploaded clip was the 7" radio version! I’ve never heard the version you uploaded before.
Alexey, I need more information. Which country are you in? Is this an FM station or web radio? How did you record it exactly — I need to know the signal chain.
Without knowing the signal chain I have no chance to set up the same signal chain, and then I couldn’t do A/B switching and start matching the sound.

LeifKeymasterHi Edgar!
Yes. Next week I’m travelling to Stockholm to visit my sister, who had a bunch of usability improvement ideas for Breakaway, so we’re going to sit down and I’m going to make a whole bunch of improvements. Good thing you reminded me about the volume control API, so that I can remember to implement it.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymasterHi Ricardo!
It’s the sound card. SB Audigy2 ZS, although usable, is pretty dirty.
Try a Juli@ or another pro sound card.

August 14, 2009 at 9:21 am in reply to: Now in development: Under 4ms studio out delay in BBP ASIO! #7961LeifKeymasterBecause specialized tcp/ip control interfaces are nice and quick even over slow links, not slow as molasses like VNC.
However, BBP will never get this feature — it’s one of the things I’m saving for the hardware version.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymaster700mb memory is plenty! In fact it runs even with 256mb.
The question is, what’s the CPU speed?

LeifKeymasterShoutcast needs to be set to Winamp input (or DSP input or whatever they call it), not sound card input!
In Breakaway, you do need to select the correct sound card for input. Check the I/O settings.

LeifKeymasterOOPS! That’s a big screwup, it’s been that way for months. Just goes to show I’m supposed to be a programmer, not a webmaster.
Thanks for the heads up, will fix it right away.

LeifKeymasterHow strange! Perhaps the engineer who built the system for you made a mistake when installing. If you could PM me his contact info, I’ll be happy to talk to him directly and figure out how best to solve your problem.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymasterNo need to do flac for this, MP3 V0 or 320 will do just fine.
///Leif
LeifKeymasterCarl, I see the problem.
The audio is coming in through line in, then you send the line in audio to shoutcast, as well as to breakaway, and then breakaway sends the audio to the line out.
Of course shoutcast will not be processed — you’re feeding it from what’s BEFORE breakaway, not after 🙂.
The easiest way to make it work the way you want is to load shoutcast as an encoder plug-in in breakaway.
If you must run in standalone, then you can set brekaway to output to a pipeline, and then set the standalone encoder to record from that same pipeline. However, if you do that, it won’t be driving the sound card — so you’d have only streaming, no line out.If you load shoutcast as an encoder plug-in, you get processed streaming AND processed line out.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymasterHi Aaron! I love that your station plays polka music, please provide a link once you get the audio where you want it 🙂. Hm, you wouldn’t happen to live somewhere near Twente would you? 🙂
Having challenger target at 50% is a great idea, and like Jesse said you should also set Max Atten to 6dB — this way, Challenger can actually REDUCE the stereo width if the input is hard-panned, which polka from the 60s likely is!
Although my taste in music is very wide, Polka isn’t really part of my library (yet anyway), but if you could make a nice mix of several different and difficult polka songs, I’d love to take a listen and see what I can do — perhaps there’s News/Talk could be tweaked to sound better on polka while still sounding good on actual talk.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymasterIndeed — just download the latest version and install, it should upgrade cleanly from the old version including your registration key, and you should be up and running again in no time.

LeifKeymasterHi Kenny!
You should be able to buy it from here:
http://store.claessonedwards.com/product_p/mpxtool.htm
Did you find an older link to the old defunct yahoo store? I’m starting to suspect I forgot an old link somewhere.
Regarding the airchecks, the web host (Powweb) with whom I have an UNLIMITED account, started imposing LIMITS, saying essentially "your usage is outside of what we expect, and you have to get your usage more in line with our expectations or we’ll suspend your account", as if their expectations are MY problem. Being on the road at the moment, a suspended site is the last thing I’d want to deal with, so I deleted the airchecks off the site for now, but you better believe I will be changing web hosts and demanding a refund once I’ve got my feet back on solid ground again.
Best,
