Aw, thanks 🙂. I’ll be sure to tell Frank next time I see him 😀.

Hey, I wonder if it’s the Xonar card. I have one of those, and the drivers were truly awful. Could you try with the onboard sound and see if it’s any better?

Hi Joop!

No, not yet — I’m just now getting settled back into life here. One of my UPSs failed while I was gone (probably heatstroke), and I just bought a new one today, so I was finally able to get my server running again.

I still need to set up a couple of computers to do long term testing / debugging.

I’ve seen the meter flash issue once though. It didn’t affect audio, but it has certainly thrown me for a loop — I have no idea how it’s possible. It’ll take me a while to debug I’m sure.

Actually I’m starting to think that adding any new tweakability at all will be a can of worms, because if I add one thing, then a few people will be happy, while many others will say "since you were adding only one thing, why didn’t you add THIS one much more important thing instead"…

I may do it in the future, but right now I’m not sure I have time for the serious headache I know it’d bring.

I want to add features to BBP, but I also want to create brand new projects, so I have to be careful not to dive too deep into one project, or I may never surface long enough to look at all the other things that need doing.

Maybe it’s time I start looking into getting some help 🙂.

Aim for the white line, as long as peaks *never* hit the ceiling.

If peaks are getting close to the ceiling without the loudness reaching the white line, then lower the ITU ref level. This lowers the white line, and adjusts several processing parameters to compensate.

Best,

Every 2-3 days? That’s crazy. Try the 0.90.87 version (latest) from the forum, I’ve never heard of anyone else having this sort of problem with it.

I’m back home now (Thailand) after my 3-month trip to Europe and the US, so I now have my computers around to do long-term testing.

This is why a modulation analyzer is needed to set up *any* transmitter. 🙂

I personally would never even try to do it without one — it would be working blind. You might be able to get it to work, but the chances of it magically being correct are slim.
When is there going to be a new official release?
As soon as I’m confident of long-term stability.

The betas on the download page are known to be stable.

Could you try disabling "audio realtime priority" as well? I’m starting to believe I should remove this option — it seems to be causing more harm than good.

Afraid not — I’m flying out this afternoon, back to Thailand. It’s been a 3-month trip — crazy!

I’ll be back in Twente for new years though — see you then! 🙂

Hi SDF!

In the beginning I will personally support the hardware box. As more people learn how to use it, I will be able to hand support over to them, so that i can focus on development.

The software will be done only by me, yes 🙂. There will definitely be a support forum, away from this forum.

TCP/IP control? Of course!
Dayparting? Of course.
Full control? Hell yes.
IP-STL? Oh yes.
Stream encoding? Absolutely!
Full-colour display? You’d better believe it!

The gui will have some things common with Breakaway, but not completely.

Languages? I understand this is important for some people, but I have no chance of doing it. Airomate has only a few features, it’s possible to translate everything, but for me personally, It’s better to spend the time improving the audio.

Vriendelijke groeten,
Leif Claesson

(Also in Twente today, in Haaksbergen! If you PM me your phone number maybe I can come visit this morning 🙂

I understand what you mean — the problem is that no matter how inexpensive and good value the product, there’s always people who steal it instead of paying the little money asked. Thus, I have to think very carefully for every feature I put in — can I live with this being stolen and uncontrollably copied? For the composite clipper, the answer to this question is no — it must not happen.

Don’t worry, I’m not depriving anyone of anything — the software versions will continue to exist even after the hardware comes out! In fact, the hardware will not even be called Breakaway — I’m using this name for software only.

I recommend trying buffer size 512. 256 places very strict timing requirements on the cpu – it’s possible that it’s not fast enough, but 512 should work fine.

It’s usually configured in the ASIO control panel for your sound card.

If you press Test in I/O options in breakaway, you’ll see the block (buffer?) size in the window.

Also make sure you are using the latest vga drivers!
