Hi Gerrie!
Please download the latest version: http://www.ceaudio.com/beta/breakaway_l … .90.93.exe
///Leif
LeifKeymasterYes. The other Breakaway products already have it, but I forgot to add it to Breakaway DJ. Will do it in a future release.
///Leif
LeifKeymasterYes indeed! My bad, I completely forgot about this thread. Too busy inventing, I guess 😉.
Breakaway DJ has been out for 10 whole days 😉.
///Leif
LeifKeymasterAs far as I know, it’s stable! Also, upgrading to a newer version is free.

LeifKeymasterHi Aaron!
You sure tend to like the strange presets 🙂. The Mic presets are really designed to be a standalone mic processor, processing only a single microphone. If you like it for music though, that’s great! However, it wouldn’t make sense to add it to BBP since it’s not a low latency processor, which precludes using it for microphones, so Breakaway Live is probably the best bet.

LeifKeymasterHi Jack!
Stereo coding of an already processed/filtered signal is a zero latency process, whether in software or hardware, so turning it off gains no latency.
It’s possible that the transmitters stereo encoder is as good as BBP’s internal coder. It cannot be better, but it could be worse. I can say this with certainty because perfect stereo coding is an extremely simple process to do in software — you can even do it in an audio editor like Adobe Audition.
Thus, I strongly recommend using BBP’s MPX output if you can.

January 15, 2010 at 6:03 pm in reply to: Breakaway 1.30.02 with transparent toolbar for Windows Aero! #5055LeifKeymasterVersion 1.2 did not support kernel streaming in vista or windows 7, so breakaway had to use safe mode in those operating systems.
1.30.01 is here: http://www.ceaudio.com/beta/breakaway_s … .01_rc.exe

LeifKeymasterHeh, well, I guess everyone’s different. I bought a TomTom GPS for my car and initially set it to female voice. Then, as I missed a couple of turns, I got seriously annoyed at the woman nagging at me, and switched to the male voice instead. Worked much better for me anyway 😉.
I’ll still remove the commercial from trial mode though.

LeifKeymasterBreakaway Pipeline is Virtual Cable, except that it’s "locked" to Breakaway products in a way that it introduces a loud static noise into the cable if no Breakaway products are running.
However, as soon as any Breakaway product is running, all cables are static-free for all programs that use them. So, if you for example installed Breakaway Live (to get the cables installed), and then make sure to keep Breakaway RTA running (which is completely free), you’ve got free static-free cables. 🙂

LeifKeymasterOK, so are you running ASIO or KS? Does it make a difference? What’s the CPU usage (according to task manager) when you’re experiencing problems?
Also, you don’t need the Pipeline inputs to use the Breakaway DJ ASIO driver, so you could disable them and see if makes a difference.
Could you describe the glitches more carefully? What does it sound like? How many / how often etc?
///Leif
LeifKeymasterHey, I’m not blaming you! Of course I want to make it work, there’s (almost) nothing I enjoy more than people enjoying my creations. 🙂
When trying the test tone, OTS and everything else must be running, to make it a fair test. Loading a playlist while running the test tone is the right way to do it!
The Output section of BDJ is completely separate for the output. The Breakaway DJ ASIO driver (which you selected in OTS, right?) is always the best choice for input, no matter what output you use.
For Output, there’s Kernel Streaming:
And, there’s ASIO:
ASIO is the better choice if the sound card’s ASIO drivers are reliable. But, if they’re not, KS (Kernel Streaming) may be a workaround.
///Leif
LeifKeymasterAlright, the first thing I would do would be to find out whether the problem is the link between the DJ software and BDJ (Breakaway DJ ASIO Driver), or BDJ or the audio output.
This is easy to do. If you’re hearing glitches, turn on the tone generator inside Breakaway DJ’s settings.
If the test tone sounds perfect, then the problem is the Input. If the test tone sounds bad, the problem is either inside breakaway, or at the output.
Vista would certainly be my last choice in operating systems, but if it works fine without breakaway, it should work fine with breakaway too. Also, that’s not a slow laptop — I’m running Breakaway DJ on my netbook (atom n280), so it really should work on yours as well.
If it turns out that it’s the Pioneer’s ASIO driver that is unreliable, how about running Breakaway DJ with kernel streaming output? You can still get low latency this way, and you can still use the Breakaway DJ ASIO Input driver.

LeifKeymasterI recommended EMU 0404 USB because of flexibility — it has phantom-powered professional microphone inputs, clean excellent sounding analog outputs as well as s/pdif in and out. It’s also USB, so you can use it with your laptop / netbook, should the need arise. It’s also not much more expensive than the ESI Juli@.
On stability alone, had it not been for the mic inputs, I would have recommended the ESI Juli@ instead, but PEQ/RTA calibration is a huge deal which can make a true objective improvement. It’s also something that’s unnecessarily complicated for at least 99% of the population, but I figure since you’re still here, you’re part of the minority who really cares about sound 😉.
Klipsch makes some very good speakers, although I was dissatisfied with the treble in a THX-certified klipsch computer-speaker set I heard a few years ago — the tweeters had a metallic quality I was never able to EQ out.

LeifKeymasterGlad it helped 🙂.
Also sounds like I need to do some debugging in low-cpu conditions — crashing is definitely an error.

How odd. Which version were you running before? Could you downgrade to that version and see if it still works better?
