Hi dhalsey!
There is no manual yet (I’ll write one eventually), but hopefully I can explain it pretty easily.
Breakaway Live will even out the level and spectral balance of the incoming signal, so to adjust the volume in your speakers, P/A system etc, the volume must be adjusted AFTER the output of Breakaway Live (or on Breakaway Live’s volume control)
When setting the input level to Breakaway Live, aim for the green area on the input meters, and make sure the input *never* clips (absolutely no red flashing).
If the input signal is a little low, that’s okay — Breakaway will bring it up!
Best regards,

And I would love to give one! First of all, how about some recordings? Board-feed pre breakaway should suffice, along with the exact breakaway settings you were using.

February 17, 2010 at 2:35 am in reply to: Orban step it up a gear..Is BBP up to the challenge? #9872LeifKeymasterI would *love* to hear the torture test (mpx) through an 8600. Does anyone actually have one yet?
Judging from their press statement alone, the 8600 should sound as good as BBP! Will be interesting to see if the actual product lives up to it. I for one would absolutely welcome some competition when it comes to audio quality!

LeifKeymasterIn that case, build it! I personally love building things myself, literally my whole life. If you have the time, go for it.

LeifKeymasterIf I remember correctly, that’s the same capsule they use inside the Behringer. I could be wrong though.
Regarding avoiding buying the Behringer, what’s your time worth, and how do you value having a rugged measurement microphone with an industry standard XLR connector and 48v phantom power support? If the answer is "less then what it costs to buy the behringer mic" then go ahead, but remember that mic is fifty bucks.

LeifKeymasterHi Mike!
It’s not possible for two big reasons:
1) The studio output is optimized for the absolute minimal latency, sacrificing some audio quality, and does not have the peak limiting necessary for competitive web streaming
2) Breakaway Pipelines are not ASIO compatibleI strongly recommend running Breakaway Live on the web streams instead. That way you can use phase linear higher latency processing for the absolute best sound on the web, without having to compromise with the FM sound.

You’d have to ask them, it’s not my product in any way.

LeifKeymasterFewer buffers = less delay, so if 2 buffers works reliably, that’s excellent.
ASIO always uses two buffers — i.e. when the sound card is reading from buffer 1, the audio app is writing to buffer 2, and vice versa.
Kernel Streaming drivers are not usually reliable with less than 3, but since 2 works for you, consider yourself lucky 🙂.
///Leif
LeifKeymasterYou might start by actually providing a link to the stream?
///Leif
LeifKeymasterNot yet, but this would also be a really good idea. 🙂

LeifKeymasterThere. This should bring user-friendliness up a few notches I hope? 🙂
///Leif
LeifKeymasterI apologize.. Just a lot of things at once at the moment.
This is a good learning experience — you’ve helped me figure out how to make it more obvious!
I’ll make the window taller so that the 4th line will fit in there as well.
Perhaps I should also make ASIO channels 1, 2, 3, 4 be the defaults — that would have avoided this issue as well.

LeifKeymasterI moved!
18 hours in a 10-wheeler truck, from:
Nakhon Phanom
to
Hua Hin
I’m finally started to get settled. I don’t have ADSL yet, but my very nice neighbour gave me his WLAN password 😉.

LeifKeymaster
My pc is very old and cpu usage is very critical.
Indeed it is, but I think it’s a mistake to spend that much time on getting an old CPU going, considering that you can buy a faster PC for even less than the price of BBP.
///Leif
LeifKeymasterYou are kidding, right? How is audio supposed to get into the sound card?
L1/R1 are the left and right audio channels of the "left deck"
L2/R2 are the left and right audio channels of the "right deck"You have the right deck audio output disabled.
