Great meeting you too! Good show this year, that couch at the LinAc booth was perfect for programming, I got lots done 😉.

It’s not possible to judge the sound of an FM station based on a stream. To match the sound, we’d need an MPX recording off air. MpxTool can do it if you have a tuner with a composite output, but that’s not easy to find. If anyone has an off-air mpx recording rig and lives within range of this station, help is appreciated. 🙂

Wow… No clue. If devic manager says the device has a problem, i have no idea why it works. Sounds like you need a fresh install or system restore. //Leif

Delay compensation is actually automatic (based on sound card / buffer delay). It’s accurate for regular viewing, but when taking screenshots of a fast-moving object such as a scope, you do have to try a few times to get the shot you want. The two oscilloscopes are independent, so it is possible that they will momentarily be slightly off.

Whoa.. I’ve never heard a sound blaster card do that, not even the old ISA SB16’s which I used in my very first multiband processor back in 1997. Are you sure it wasn’t broken?
Well there’s CGSmooth of course. I too would love to hear Frank and CG both do 1+ more presets for Breakaway. We need some more celebrity presets.
EastWind, you listening? 😉
So under certain circumstances – if the author of the preset has set one core parameter to the bottom – it can be changed using the GUI values above 50, but how can it be lowered when it is already at the bottom ?
It couldn’t. However, the internal core parameters have a *very* wide range, so there is almost never a need for presets to use the minimum/maximum values, and thus the gui controls work. There are cases where the gui controls will cause the internal values to bottom out though, but in those cases, you are already way beyond sensible settings.

One exception — the ratio control. There are presets that already use Infinite:1 ratio — helix is one if i remember correctly. If you turn the power control up on those presets, nothing will happen, because there is no higher compression ratio than infinite:1. Higher than that would mean making the output quieter as the input got louder, and then we’d start to sound like the competition’s processors wouldn’t we 🙂.

When the ratio is adjusted, the numbers next to the meters move, so if you adjust power and see no difference (provided that there is audio going through!), you know the ratio is already maxed out.

Each preset DOES have its own values by default. 🙂 The user adjustable controls adjust multiple internal parameters based on the internal values for each preset. 50 means no adjustment at all. This is why different presets sound radically different even thoug they all start at 50.

Correct. The only driver installed by breakaway is vaclcsd.sys — breakaway pipeline.

Have you tried googling the driver?

My bad, I misunderstood. Again, to be clear, Breakaway Live with Reference Settings will make an excellent Stereo TV processor.

Joop, that was uncalled for. I specifically said what to do if that was out of your price range. If you didn’t read my whole post that’s fine, but there’s no reason to be rude.

Realtek can do 192k on xp, vista and 7 as long as the hardware supports it. I’m not sure what’s going wrong at this point… It would help to have a scope so you could look at the output. QuickSweep reveals a lot.

Gotcha. Nothing is automatic, every update takes a lot of work from me. Presets alone aren’t enough to warrant an update for me, but new features are, and then presets may come along for the ride. Stay tuned 🙂

Looks like you’ll need something to measure with, to find out if the sound card is really outputting 192k. If stereo isn’t working now, it must not be. Oscillscope would be ideal. Otherwise, the easiest will be to get a properr sound card like esi juli@ or marian trace alpha.
