I will be putting the recordings on an alternate site shortly.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymaster
Please, Leif try use other words for "as there’s no way you’d try to adjust your listening level by adjusting the player".
The only reason the Pipeline volume control is disabled by default, is that I anticipated that users of BAE (who are not usually audio professionals) would attempt to adjust their speaker volume by adjusting the volume control in their favourite player, like they’ve always done. This would work for a little while, until Breakaway adjusts its gain upwards. It would be a chase until Breakaway runs out of range, and my fear was that people would then complain "Breakaway doesn’t fix the volume problems, some songs are still loud, others are still quiet".
So, instead I figured it was better to break the volume control completely, making them use Breakaway’s volume control instead, which is AFTER the processing so it doesn’t cause that problem.
So, what I meant by my comment was:
"Hank IS an audio professional, and would not make this mistake, so there is no problem with turning volume control on.".
"There is no way X" usually means "I don’t think X will happen" 🙂.
The answer is entirely based on the pipeline volume control.
BTW, English is my second language, not my first 😉.

LeifKeymasterAfaik, an impedance mismatch leads to level loss and/or HF roll-off. Nothing the PEQ can’t fix, if necessary 🙂.

LeifKeymasterMwyann,
Please mail broadcast at claessonedwards dot com and ask for the $15 loyalty discount for BAE customers buying Live. It’s not an upgrade, you get to keep both. 🙂.

LeifKeymasterThere is no disadvantage for a system used for broadcasting as there’s no way you’d try to adjust your listening level by adjusting the player. //Leif
LeifKeymasterI interpreted it differently. The clue was that he said "hard cut". No amount of compression will do a hard cut — you’ll hit dithering noise first. Compression usually makes segues sound smoother.

LeifKeymasterNice one! Thanks for the clarification.
I’ve bought a Juli@, I’ll install it as soon as I get back home. Flying tomorrow.

LeifKeymasterIt depends on how the crossfader is written. It’s not impossible that the crossfader would be using one waveout session for each player, letting the wave volume control the the mixdown. If so, Breakaway will break it, until Volume Control is enabled on Breakaway Pipeline. It’s the first thing I would try in troubleshooting this issue.
///Leif
LeifKeymasterI’m not sure it’s the gain riding. Breakaway Pipeline disables the windows mixer volume controls by default — that could be it.
Try enabling ‘volume control’ in the breakaway pipeline configuration tool.

LeifKeymaster
Wish that card was easier to procure in the U>S>..Poor distribution or poor demand for it in the U>S(one of the 2)…there’s bound to be a another card with straight DC output.
One would think so, but I’ve never found one. Let me know if you do.

LeifKeymasterHi Paz,
I lived in the country before. Now I live in Hua Hin. Nice town, let me know if you’re ever around, we’ll go out for a beer or three 🙂.
I’ll do some serious testing of BBP ASIO once I get back and get to the bottom of this.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymasterHi Chris!
Thank you for the comments, on LeeXS’s behalf 🙂.
If it ever does get altered, the original unaltered version will still live on as an Obsolete Preset, which means you’ll be able to use it just by putting a special key in the ini file. No worries.

LeifKeymasterHi Gavin!
The PEQ is designed to solve the problem you’re having.
If EQ is applied to a peak limited signal, overshoots will occur.
However, EQ’ing a signal one way, and then re-EQ’ing with the INVERSE of that, should cause flat frequency response, and the peaks should disappear.You’ll need an oscilloscope to set it up properly, but it should be doable. Please follow this guide:
http://www.claessonedwards.com/index.ph … &Itemid=83
The Tilt correction in BBP is "minimum phase" (that is, it causes phase shift), whereas the PEQ is linear phase (that is, it causes no phase shift). When correcting EQ, one must use an EQ with the same phase response as the EQ causing the problem, or the overshoots will not disappear.
This all sounds more complicated than it is, though. If you hook up a scope and get the QuickSweep and squarewaves right, it should Just Work ™.
I don’t know of any other audio processing software that offers Tilt and PEQ. Kind of mindboggling considering that sound cards usually need it — in fact I only know ONE sound card that is perfect out of the box, and it’s the Marian Trace Alpha.
Best,
///LeifLeifKeymasterMy bad 🙂.
Glad it worked out.
