Ok, I increased the DPI in XP, but it had no effect. So that’s good news.
Windows 7, I tried Breakaway and Breakaway Live and they’re both affected (Text size was set to Larger – 150%).
What I found is, when I placed the window in the top half of the screen, the controls worked fine. In the bottom half, the controls were zapped all the way to the left.
A similar thing also happens with Winamp, but the opposite halves; trying to select something from the Media Library only works from the bottom half.
Text size set to 125% appeared to have no affect.
lpy7MemberAwesome. Is there any benefit to running Speakers mode for streaming, or is it best left at Broadcast mode?
lpy7Memberhehe, yeah I knew the answer wasn’t as simple as the question. But, I knew this was the right place to ask 🙂 Very helpful information, thank you.
I used to keep up-to-date with it all, but once they got to ~3Ghz, instead of getting faster and faster, they went multi-core, which makes sense, but it started getting confusing.
At this stage i think the i7 920 looks alright, and price isn’t too bad, but will no doubt drop even more soon. Here’s an interesting article …
http://www.overclockers.com.au/files/Core%20i7%20920%20oc%204G%202008.12.12_(ENG).pdfI think I’d be happy to overclock it to around 3.2GHz.
Interesting so far. I’ll keep browsing.
lpy7MemberCool. As I mentioned, it did it when changing to Wavein, so it’s not just on shutdown.
New version still freezes. Soundcard, ADI1888 SoundMAX.
I tried it on the laptop, and selecting Wavein made only the program freeze, for about 30 seconds.
lpy7MemberNah, every other Breakaway product works perfect.
sneradio had the same problem viewtopic.php?p=3230#p3230
That first alpha version was the one that crashed sneradio’s pc, but that worked fine for me. This one doesn’t.I tried closing it the normal way, and then tried forcing the process to end with Task Manager. Surprisingly, that method still froze the pc.
Just tried your suggestion on using Wave-In and it froze as soon as I clicked OK.
I don’t really wanna experiment too much cos each time it freezes I have to walk into the other room, hit reset, and then come back in here… not to mention the risk of corrupting files each time.
I’ll keep an eye out for updates though.
lpy7MemberFreezes computer on Exit. Other than that, looks good.
lpy7MemberThis computer’s old..SoundMax Intergrated Digital is what the driver says. Seems to playback 192k fine, but not record that high.
The laptop’s max setting however is 96k, which sucks too. Although, I can see the full 48k of audio on that one, so I’m pretty sure I found the mpx output. It’s weird that it only offers 96k and not 192k for recording, it’s fairly new. The driver for that one says Conexant High Definition Audio.
Looks like I need a new soundcard that can record it 🙂
lpy7MemberCool. I don’t have a Tivoli though, but I think I’ve found the output..maybe, because there’s a sharp cutoff at around 25KHz.
edit: I think the soundcard must be limited to 48khz recording.. Is there a way to check if it’s 48k and not 192k?lpy7MemberWhat is required to do such a recording? Is it more than just recording straight from FM radio?(maybe even tapping into the radio’s circuit to get a line-out of the audio unchanged?)
lpy7MemberI see online stations that don’t have the loudest audio, but still attract thousands of listeners. To me, that makes sense, ’cause I’d rather listen to a station that has some dynamics preserved than one that’s screaming with audio just to "beat the competition".
Maybe it depends what country you grow up in, because I struggle to understand the mentality of trying to be the loudest (all my local FM stations have the same loudness). Has anyone actually proved that being louder increases listeners? I wouldn’t mind seeing that.
That said, I’ve been happy with "Reference Heavy" so far, but I might give Zenith a go and see if I like it
lpy7MemberJust had a quick browse at that hydrogenaudio forum. By the time they finish their debate on lossy vs lossless, they’ll be old and gray with crappy ears what wouldn’t pick the difference anyway LOL.
lpy7MemberI was thinking the same too. To me, Vista has always been a piece of crap when trying to get stable audio out of it. XP, when setup right, works flawlessly.
lpy7MemberMaybe you should point him to the VAC 3.12 link if all else fails Leif? Sounds like a very similar VAC 4.08 bug I had, although mine was more like a stuttering effect that disappeared after a restart but eventually came back. Might not be…but worth a try if what you suggest doesn’t work.
Cheers.
lpy7MemberDefinitely a little low (but smooth) on the treble side of things, which is probably a refreshing change in today’s audio standards. Has a fairly warm sound (a bit like a valve amplifier). The audio isn’t screaming, but probably doesn’t need to either. Seems to suit the genre…sounds different, but nice.
If that’s the sound you’re trying to achieve, it’s good 🙂
