I would also like to know the answer to this fellow’s question. Could someone explain the magic behind this wondrous product?
June 14, 2010 at 6:59 am in reply to: Breakaway 1.30.02 with transparent toolbar for Windows Aero! #5068bwmcmasteMemberLeif, you kick ass! I just updated and noticed all these lovely new features (noise reduction and templates).
I love BAE!
bwmcmasteMemberI found VirtualDJ and the related ASIO situation to be an excercise in frustration, and Breakaway definitely complicated things for me.
Without exploring to deeply into the subject: I can say that I didn’t have any luck with ASIO and Enhancer. Then again: I didn’t try to hard, VirtualDJ was far too frustrating for me.

bwmcmasteMemberWell, I’m no expert on the matter, but I have experienced this type of issue before. I’ve never experienced in games (usually just in audio-related software), but I imagine there should be an "audio settings" function somewhere in the game that allows you to select your audio device. You may have to disable all of the other audio output devices as well (re: through the "playback devices" option in your taskbar.
Most software should work with BA, as it emulates hardware. Any trouble recognizing it might be attributed to another device enabled alongside it.

bwmcmasteMemberOkay, so I tried to reinstall the latest version of BA, and it worked fine right up until I got out of the setup wizard (I could hear the test tone and everything). When the program went to startup it gives me the same error I was getting before:
quote :Error starting audio engine:
DSoundManager::Initialize failed: 88780078After I click "Ok"; it takes me to the settings window and I try to run the test tone again. The GUI gives me an error in that little grey window:
quote :Child process not responding. It suggests that I turn off the "Audio Realtime Priority", and when I do this and try to run the test tone again it gives me this error in the GUI (same as above):
quote :DSoundManager::Initialize failed: 88780078I then went to change the test mode to "loud tone", and I got an APPCRASH:

Maybe it’s time for a software update for BA?
