We always used BBP but have lately started using BAL for the webstreams. The absence of clippers does make the sound on the stream ‘sweeter’ which is good.
But at the same time I do miss the 15uS pre-emphasis which made it just a little bit easier for the encoders (AAC+V2 and MP3).I would like to see the possibility of 15 and 25uS pre-emhasis in BAL… 🙄
radio oude stijlMember
Don’t you mean CPU? 300 series sound familiar.
Nope, Jesse means GPU, the processor on your Graphics card…
So the question here is: what graphics card are you using?radio oude stijlMemberAxia/Omnia/Telos booth I guess?
radio oude stijlMember
The idea would be to "pre-process" the live signal (to more consistent levels) before it hits Breakaway 🙂
How would you recommend we use it otherwise?
I think Breakaway handles inconsistant levels very good, that’s why I asked if you meant live audio or just playout…
Or maybe you just wanted to add a certain ‘flavour’ to your sound?radio oude stijlMember
Speaking of DBMax, what settings would you use in front of Breakaway?
That all depends on what you want to achieve.
We have a DBMax stored somewhere but I never took the time to experiment with it, it would make sense to level our input ahead of Breakaway…
Live signal or just playout?radio oude stijlMember
do you know any other thing i could put in front of breakaway to get some more out of it then i can standalone, because i try some plugins to get a good front before breakaway, like a dbmax in front of a omnia or like that 😉 but i wanted to keep it simple at one pc
I think it would be wise to wait for the new Breakaway… it has, among other thing, the best preprocessing possible: declipping… 😉
radio oude stijlMember
If I HAD to do an MPX run of this kind of length (which I would try to avoid if possible)
I wonder…What can possibly be a good enough reason NOT to put BBP close to the transmitter?radio oude stijlMember
then…the best solution is a good 30mts mpx cable
Nope…
or send digital audio signal from studio to pc with bbp close to transmitter
Yes if your audio is already digital 😉
or send balance audio from studio to pc with bbp close to transmitter
Yes if your audio is analog 😆Best is to put bbp as close to transmitter as possible. There is no need to make the audio digital however if the rest of the chain is analog.
Unless…. you have a A/D converter that is better than the one used on your soundcardAt least, that’s my opinion and you asked Jesse, so let’s wait and see 😀
radio oude stijlMemberIt is ALWAYS best to keep the mpx-cable as SHORT as possible. Shorter=Better
Why don’t you put your PC at the transmittersite and go there with digital audio?August 17, 2011 at 12:49 pm in reply to: When we get the new software Breakaway….(Wish List).. #12147radio oude stijlMemberNo, no… I cannot wait anymore
radio oude stijlMember
BTW totally off topic your Advancast transmitter is still doing his job 24/24/7 @ 30w on 1 tuned dipole 🙂
Good to hear! There have been moments I regretted selling it… 😕
radio oude stijlMember
After all the Marian trace Alpha will be used 8)
I believe there are still no drivers for Windows 7 64bit?
radio oude stijlMember
Hey, why the sad face? This is good news — it will do exactly what you need 🙂.
///Leif
The face is sad because I forgot an important law of truth:
"assumption is the mother of all fuckups"radio oude stijlMemberI just bow my head and accept my ignorance… 😐
radio oude stijlMember
If you want limiting instead of clipping, with phase linear processing, lucky for you there is a Breakaway product that does just that. 🙂
You mean Breakaway Live? I thought Live wasn’t phase linear 😳
