Leif, my Echo specs say it supports GSIF (32-bit only), would this help me any, or better yet, could you support that? I have no idea what GSIF is. I think the ks mode is only 24-bit for the Echo? But Asio is ok with 16-bit? I don’t understand it.
January 18, 2010 at 12:18 am in reply to: Breakaway DJ – Device Does Not Support Requested Format #9722powerjamMemberActually, Leif, Asio works fine. Yes, I’m on Vista 64-bit. I tried all the options available, 48khz too, I just thought the KS driver should work too, not just Asio.
Here’s the description of what I have, maybe 24-bit is the only supported bit depth?
powerjamMemberThere is a discussion about Multi-band processing going on in the OtsAV forum and I asked if BDJ could replace a DBX driverack processor and it was mentioned that the DBX processes the final sound, BDJ only the sound from the computer. Could BDJ be set up to process the microphone(s)/line input(s) on a sound card also so that it processes the entire sound and run the output directly to the amp(s)? Thanks again, Leif.
powerjamMemberYou are just too cool! Now can you work out a deal with Ots Corp to use your product integrated with OtsAV? It is so much more powerful and useful compared to the built in Dynamics Processor in OtsAV! 🙂
powerjamMemberLeif, quick question, Is it possible to program in a fade in function just for when audio is first received? It seems the level is very high for a split second if you enable or start your audio, then BDJ brings it to the proper level. Would that be possible to do or is this by design supposed to do that?
powerjamMemberThis is actually now available! see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=847&hilit=bdj
Used it for over a week and purchased it the day after I tried it. Works great for me using Asio for main and cue channels in OtsAV.powerjamMember
I absolutely love my Sennheiser HD650s! Big, accurate and powerful sound. And, when they’re too big to bring, I’m quite happy with Etymotic ER-4P.

I got some Audio-Technica ATH-m50 cans for Christmas and WOW 😮 is all I can say. They are the most amazingly accurate and sweet-sounding headphones I’ve ever heard. With BDJ and these cans it is like I have a whole new music collection! 😀
powerjamMember
Wow! So, the split process architecture really does work. I guess I’ll be making it the default in Breakaway DJ then, just like in the other Breakaway products.
Very good news for me. 🙂

Leif, I found basically the same results when just refreshing my audio files, the audio priority switch ditched the glitch 😀
Conversely, I found that BDJ TOTALLY CRASHED to a MS send error report when I used ASIO with high buffer sizes 1024 samples with 8 buffers while refreshing a 45,000 song library while two beatmixed videos were transitioning. I got glitches and skipping and then BDJ crashed. With the realtime audio priority on it was somehow able to handle this torture test without crashing or skipping and I was able to lower the buffer & sample sizes! The crazy thing is my jitter was hitting 2200% during this test at times and there was still no skipping in the sound. 😯
powerjamMemberHi Leif,
I have a couple more questions for you regarding Breakaway DJ:
1) If I set the breakaway pipeline #1 as my default audio device in Vista playback devices and I try to use my keyboard volume controls on the laptop I get very strange results, the volume is not controlled and if I mute it, then unmute it the Breakaway DJ gets stuck at Muted – if I try to unmute or put the volume higher in BADJ it keeps automatically going back to Muted. I get stuck in this loop unless I log off and back on… Is there a way to control the volume with Vista 64 for BADJ without using the BADJ interface?
2) How is it that your asio interface works perfectly with OtsAV for me and my Echo Indigo DJx card with BADJ, but if I use Asio in OtsAV I have problems such as skipping and slowing down of music if I type in OtsAV’s search box? An OtsAV admin says this is because basically Echo’s driver does not comply with the Asio standards.
Thanks!
powerjamMemberOk, that’s what I thought, ots bro! I did notice if I refresh my music library while I’m doing a lot of stuff, internet open, etc, I get some noises like the Asio is hitting it’s limit or whatever it does, makes a beeping noise. So maybe the solution is to not do those type of things when playing video, OR using WDM? Or bumping the buffer up more, I guess. A cpu can only take so much, but I don’t think the Breakaway DJ is using that much CPU extra – for me it’s about 8-12% with the breakaway DJ window closed but running in the taskbar and with the meters running it hits 8-13% cpu in task manager.
powerjamMember
Ok Leif I have this going on my system and it sound great. The only problem is that when I import a large playlist while playing a song it has major disruption. I even have the buffer all the way up to 1000 what ever it is. I’m quite sure I’m not doing something right. I will continue to play around if you have any suggestions let me know. This computer is a video powerhouse 3 gigs of ram and 2 gigs of video memory. Hmm something I found out I had it on the wrong drivers. Though its for breakaway and certain channels on my mixer I changed it and it seems to be work fine. I did have to raise my buffer into the 700 area but everything is synched well and no nasty sound while trying to import large playlists.
Try restarting your system… that worked for me after I changed a bunch of settings. I use 256 samples on my laptop and it’s only 3gb Ram and 512mb dedicated video ram, T7200 dual core cpu, laptop. I had minor glitching at 128 samples so I switched to 256, haven’t noticed any problems with these settings at all. I’m using an Echo Indigo DJx expresscard for audio and the Asio driver.
What DJ program are you using tngdj?
powerjamMemberGot the license! It was hiding in my spam folder. For some reason google (gmail) thinks my purchased activation file is spam 🙁
Thanks again, Leif – now back to enjoying the music!
powerjamMember
Hey, in case you’re interested, here’s the web store link 🙂.

Thanks , Leif! Already purchased it, just waiting on the license! 🙂
powerjamMemberNo, thank YOU!
Like Leif Ericson was the first to explore North America, you, Leif, are the FIRST to come out with a real-time multi-band processor that works with OtsAV in sync with video – a true pioneer! Cheers! 😆
powerjamMemberThanks for your quick reply, Leif.
1 & 2 answers make a lot of sense and #2 is unnecessary, I just was asking as someone who may want to use a different sound card for cueing or pre-listening to an upcoming track, my Echo DJx has two asio outputs so I can do that with the card anyways using ASIO 1/2 and 3/4 channels.
#3 I just wanted to see the frequency analysis in real-time as it was playing back through Breakaway DJ using Asio but everything is dark in RTA and I don’t see an option to route ASIO only Wave In, DirectSound and KernelStreaming…
Thanks again,
