johnzs180Participant
I set it up as per one of his videos but perhaps it might be better set up over a VPN rather than directly accessible from the internet?
johnzs180ParticipantHi again,
Sorry I haven’t reported back for a while.
I have now also removed the port forwarding on 8099 for the internal streaming encoder from my set up and it seems to have cured the restarting.
I am just using external icecast servers for now until this can be resolved.
Something changed somewhere outside of breakaway to cause this issue as it was all working fine for years up until July last year.
Thanks
Johnjohnzs180ParticipantI’ve been using the FLAC encoder and the HD encoder for streaming (MP3 streams). I’m on windows 10 pro rather than windows 11.
I’ve tried it on my desk rather than with the other kit with a different power supply and it still gives me the same issue.
I have disabled breakaway for now and I’m running MB-Recaster with zero issues on the same machine/same sound card etc. That leads me to believe it’s something that the breakaway software/service is doing that is crashing it or perhaps the built in encoders are causing it?
johnzs180ParticipantHi again,
I’m glad this isn’t just me – I was starting to think I was going mad.Just to go over what I have done so far:
I have tried this now on 2 different machines (2 different models of HP – one quite high sped Xeon machine with lots of RAM, the other a more budget i5 machine with 8gb RAM.)I have tried 3 different sound cards on both machines. A Behringer, a Steinburg and the Dante software sound card.
I’ve tried wiping my configuration and starting again in case it was something in the config.
It doesn’t matter what I do it seems to keep happening roughly every 24 hours or so. It could happen more often than that or less often. There doesn’t seem to be any pattern.
I’ve even tried changing my icecast streaming provider and even disabling the streaming encoders and that didn’t help.
I am running the built in encoder too which I have tried disabling and that also doesn’t help.
My streams read a txt file for the Now playing info – again I have disabled this while testing too.
I hope we can get to the bottom of this some how as the software is great other than this issue.
From memory, the software started doing this at some point in June last year.
I hope this helps in some way.
johnzs180ParticipantHi Milky,
I appreciate that and my comments weren’t aimed at you directly. I have emailed the support email address directly with comments and logs and I’ve had no answer so I appreciate you trying your best for me.
I have been running the software before with no issues but for some reason something had changed and is causing the issue.
If you get any update for me it would be much appreciated.
Thank you very much.
Johnjohnzs180ParticipantUnfortunately I’m still having the same issue.
I’m at a complete loss with this. Everything was working fine up until June/July last year and now this and I just can’t figure out what it is…
My next plan is to change the streaming provider as a last resort. Although I did still have the issue when I remove the streaming completely.
I’m a bit stunned that I haven’t heard anything from support. The product is great, it does everything I want but I just can’t carry on with the drop outs forever.
It’s crazy to think that people are paying for this and not getting issues like this fixed…
Any help or support would be appreciated.
johnzs180ParticipantHi, Yes it’s a proper licenced version. I am running the latest version from the installer that was posted on this forum and it’s running as a clean install on a fresh windows 10 install too.
I’ve changed the STL encoder from FLAC to MP3 320k to see if that helps. I’ll report back in due course.
johnzs180ParticipantHi, I did try this on the older version and it did just close down. I can try that again though to double check.
I am running the software on a machine doing nothing but breakaway. The only AV etc if the built in Windows stuff.
Yesterday I completely re-configured the software. I deleted all the previous config and re-entered everything and it still hasn’t helped.
I have also tried taking the streaming off breakaway and only using the STL encoder but again the issue persists.
The current version is now running on a different machine also to try and get away from the issue but no luck with that either. I’m at a complete loss as up until July I had have had very little issue at all.
Any help continued help would be much appreciated. I have sent some emails and logs to the support email but so far have had no reply.
johnzs180ParticipantHi again,
I have now upgraded to the latest version of Breakaway and I’m still getting the same issue of the service randomly crashing and restarting.
johnzs180ParticipantYes, I feared a windows update may have done it. I’ve just kept this version as it’s always just worked up until recently. I’ll run the update and see what happens.
