How about a higher quality MPX clipper for FM?

How about Linux and ARM versions? Micrompx encoder built in would be useful also.

I would also submit a request to make this available as a VST plugin. VST2 32-bit, specifically, you can do vst3 and 64 bit too, but in my use, it would have to be vst2 32-bit.

As much as I’d love to be able to buy a file-based or plugin-based Breakaway, I can’t see this being a business decision Leif and John would make. The bigger income comes from the broadcasting-capable modules, and that aspect would be inapplicable from a plugin or file processor. As a fan of Breakaway One for its processing capabilities, who couldn’t care less about the broadcasting capabilities, I’m all for a file or plugin-based implementation.

I know Telos has Omnia Tools or something that allows for file-based processing, but I don’t know anything else about it. It doesn’t look like it uses the same framework as Omnia 7/9 and BA1 from the screenshots, so it’s probably not Leif’s to port. I wish we knew exactly what was out of bounds with regard to Telos-owned things.

I kind of agree with @MrKlorox’s point of view on this matter. I don’t really think BreakawayOne could be suitable as a file-based or plugin. My reasons are that it would only be relevant for one type of core: HD (PassThrough and FM/AM don’t make any sense in that case), and I don’t think it’s a good idea to run your final file inside such a processing tool like this, as it’s mainly intended for “final listening” and not to be used as a source. If you want to give your file a bit of a punch, there’s plenty of other plugins that will do a more lighter processing, but still be suitable for broadcasting.

Long story short, I think BreakawayOne’s purpose makes its current form ideal, but if @timmywa has a different use case, feel free to share it to better understand why you could use it as a plugin 🙂

My main reason behind asking for this DSP/VST plugin version is that it would integrate very cleanly into Station Playlist, eliminating need of any Virtual Audio Cable or extra “hops” in the audio path. Eliminating risk of over/underruns and other dirty SRC type activities…

I totally understand this is a silly request because it’s built entirely as a stand-alone software tool and is likely too “big” or “complex” to be squeezed into a package like a DSP or VST plugin… But they asked for requests/ideas/suggestions and this is one of those, for sure!

Oh, I’ve definitely used a virtual cable to dub music I’ve processed with BA1 for playback in car before I came across the streaming route. Hell, 20 years ago, I used Octimax and my cassette recorder to make car-compatible mixes of shitty Napster rips in high school. This kind of thing would be right up my alley.

I think a file-based option would be excellent, and as I mentioned, already exists in other forms from Telos. And as for plugins, there’s nothing too big or complex about it if you look at what other products get squeezed into a single VST plugin (FL Studio in its near entirety for example).

However, I honestly don’t think CE Audio would charge a low enough rate for those to be profitable while being affordable, especially if they include any extra exposed settings than BA1’s HD core. The Telos Omnia file-based implementation was thousands of USD last time I researched, but that’s not exactly as simplified as something like Breakaway… so I dunno.

Again, I’d be interested in this to be able to “remaster” music ahead of time for consistent-sounding playback. I would like to be able to render out a better-sounding audio track of a movie and add it to the video container as an alternate audio track for playback on the living room tv. I want to be able to put a bunch of pre-processed mp3’s on my broke cousin’s DAP so she can listen to bass music on her boombox. There are uses for sure, and recording from a virtual cable is such a time-consuming slog.

edit: Optimally I’d prefer a VST that I could use in a DAW so I could just batch-process the audio with additional plugins, rather than a straight-up file-based option.

I would also love some LUFS! Output/Input measured/controlled by LUFS, they’re all the rage these days.

I have included that as it was requested by another member.

Watch this space, as I know that there has been some recent movement in the development arena.

    No hints, no timelines.

Not sure if my previous wish has been forwarded but for those that use BA1 to process for analog FM, a higher quality MPX (and bass) clipper(s) option would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Yes, I copied and pasted all requests into a spreadsheet and now the development team are prioritising them all.

Is there a beta test program planned before any public, official release? Either here in the forum, or in private with some selected/volunteer users maybe. Asking for a friend… 😉 😉 😉

Please tell your friend 😂 that I truly don’t know the rollout timeline, nor testing plans at this stage.

I think it doesn’t require a lot of work and it is very useful that the stream receiver contains a log with an overview of interruptions (with time and date). A little more complicated, but it is also not impossible to add auto e-mail sending option in the case of a problem with the stream, or other error (in/out, MPX overload, hig CPU ect.)

    Hi Leif! 😀 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o16LZ1coWp0

(Might be interesting for those of you who asked for streaming encoder output level control, like @timmywa and @k.thelen)
