unfortunately is official: My Athlon 3200 XP is not sufficient for Breakaway Brodacast. 🙁 Therefore, within two or three weeks I will assemble a new PC. Do you think that a computer with CPU INTEL CORE i7 920, it could go well? If you can, hold valid my discount! 😉

I wouldn’t be surprised if BBP uses maybe 5% CPU power on that machine 🙂.

I can confirm that ouractual processing machine (AMD Athlon64 4000+ 2400MHz) is a bit too slow also. 😯
It runs in CPU saving mode at nearly 100% with hidden scopes
I am upgrading to an Intel Pentium Dualcore e5200 (2x2500MHz).

On This CPU the actual build of bbp runs at aprox. 15-20% CPU load.

Is this because AMD does not support for the SIMd instructions (SSE3, SSE4)?

AMD does support those instructions as well — I think part of the problem is that I make heavy use of Intel’s IPP library for certain math operations, which is of course "optimized for Intel processors". However, it seems to run fine on more recent AMDs — Athlon 64 is a very old CPU, basically Pentium 4-class.

I can get BBP running on my Athlon64 3000+ at like 85% CPU…. in efficient mode. XP Pro v2002 edition, SP3… hand optimized. So that’s not really acceptable for production use. For production use under normal environmental conditions, you’ll want to be under 60% load ideally… for everything.

Hehehe.. Well, it’s accurate, but I’m not sure I’d call it nice.

Try the Amsterdam preset. It’s slightly louder than that 8500 sample, but you can always dial it down a bit with the controls.
