There’s a LOT more wrong here than the codec. God, that sounds so bad I don’t even know where to start to give you suggestions.

And even through this distorted mayhem… I can tell you’re using Phase Tornado, even on speakers. I’m serious when I say that Phase Tornado sounds like crap, I know Leif has regretted even releasing it. It was supposed to highlight one of the major problems with "a certain 31-band processor", but obviously more people are DEAF than initially expected.

You seriously don’t hear how it’s making all of your transients sound like LASERS?!?

But anyways yeah… I would first try to get a clean sound without anything except for Breakaway. Whatever else you are doing to the signal is ruining it…

I asked my friend Louis to listen, and said that I didn’t even know where to start to give you advice, and his response:
1. tune out

give us some ..controls to adjust the multiband output mix, forget the MPX clipper

also, make a more intelligent …stereo enhancer like bob orban does.. steeeereooo enhancer with high IQ 🙂
There will be an intermediate version with what you’re begging for. Leif mentioned it a lot already, and also that there is no set date on when that will be yet. This forum has a search function btw.
The heart of that sound is Breakaway latest version.. with a completely made of me ..preset.. not plutonium, not newyork, not not not..
You can’t make presets with any of the currently public versions.

check it now,
I changed the encoder to WM9.2 stereo with high frequencies.

Please Jessie, check it again now.
…this stream is using Breakaway FM latest version with …tornado…plugin..and a preset i made editing the INI file…ZZzzzzzZzzzzz
mms://1045fm.live24.gr/1045fm
http://1045fm.live24.gr/1045fm/

i edited the ini file with some of my…tastes.for the sound proccess preset..

are u sure that now …is the same?
windows media codecs are buggy..
now it has high frequencies.as i can see.

EVERYTHING in the INI file that effects sound can be adjusted through the GUI. That’s why they are there in the first place. You can’t change anything in the INI file related to the presets. There is no advantage at all to making adjustments in the INI file.

That being said, I’ll tune into this and check it out again…

Still very very distorted. Like I was saying before… it’s NOT the codec, it’s not breakaway or leif’s plugins. It’s something else. Something is getting massively overloaded, possibly analog, or possibly crappy soundcard effects. Make sure you turn off all effects your soundcard has. Make sure you properly learn how to adjust the signal levels coming in and out of soundcards. You’re distorting something a lot.

Anyways… your posts are way off topic, and should not have been posted in this thread in the first place. Make a new thread if you want help figuring out what is wrong with your setup.

If nothing else, for thinking StereoTool is even remotely as loud and clean as BBP 😉.

Traditional Composite Clipping, in my humble opinion, is basically cheating. It’s a lot harder to create an algorithm that’s loud and clean while abstaining from using that trick. Just ask Bob!

Sorry for responding after 7 years, but in the meantime, both software programs have progressed a lot.
Here is a newer comparison:

It seems that Stereo Tool has implemented some options Leif implemented in Omnia.9 (composite clipper that drives demodulated audio up to 160%, to name one).

Nope, Leif implemented these options to Omnia.9 that were introduced in Stereo Tool first. This is why Hans (ST dev) is now working for Omnia as well. Composite clipper and Undo's declipping part were Hans' creations although Leif improved the composite clippers efficiency later.

Stereo Tool introduced the composite clipper in 2013, while Leif's first composite clipper demo was in 2009 and Omnia.9 was released in 2011 AFAIK. For the declipper you are right, it's Hans' invention.
Stereo Tool is without a doubt great software. Whether it's better than Breakaway or not is a matter of taste and personal preferences.

Leif's "Psychoacoustic Composite Embedder" with above 100% audio was available almost 10 years ago actually, in the Linear Acoustic Aeromax HDFM. It wasn't an acknowledged feature, so a pretty killer secret weapon at the time. It's still a pretty good weapon. 😉

Although HDFM was never put into production and there were only a few prototype models produced, according to a Leif's post here.
