Is there a possibility to ad an phase meter
Hi Leif, one question, is it possible to disable the red flashes every time a song hits "0" DB? I normalized some songs, that even when they hit the maximum, they do not produce any audible distortion (at least to my hears), but when using the RTA is the constant flashing is kind of distracting. It is not a big deal, but maybe it could be an option for a future release? thanks.
OK, I have downloaded this program, and would like to use it to check my speaker setup. Is there a help file or readme somewhere so I know what I’m doing with it? I’ve got the mic, phantom power etc. Where to from here?

TrueRTA is highly inaccurate, especially at lower frequencies. There are some simple tests to start off with.

My subwoofer is currently underpowered and i have major room issues so i’ll be building a 300W class D amp with parametric EQ in the bass range so i can tune it for optimum response at the listening position. The amp is already done but it needs a bigger power supply, currently it only outputs 80 watts.
Once i get the amp and EQ done i’ll make a comparison between TrueRTA and Breakaway RTA. My sub is tuned to 20Hz and WILL shake the walls at that frequency, so low end precision is important. Without EQ the bass kinda vanishes below 40Hz. If i move around the place i get 40Hz and 30Hz but i lose 50Hz and so on. Too much wooden furniture in my room.
My measurement mike is good to 15Hz or so so that leaves only the accuracy of the software.

It would be perfect if the reactivity of low frequencies (<100 Hz) were as fast as the rest of the spectrum. Why are they not as fast?
On the other hand, can you describe how to set the RTA: buffer size, buffer count, DC block.

… Because lower frequencies are longer waveforms which require more time to analyze as required to build an RTA that is accurate, unlike many RTAs out there (no need to name names) which sacrifice speed for accuracy. BreakawayRTA also uses an idea that makes the bass response much faster than normally possible (using the techniques most RTAs use) at this accuracy. So the bass response is quite fast considering.Breakaway’s bass speed isn’t completely without sacrifice for speed though. The inaccuracies in the upper sideband is about 60dB down at 20Hz. 🙂 For complex waveforms, like music, this is completely acceptable for accurate measurement since the distortion is way closer to where 16bit PCM starts to distort 8) , than what would be visible in the measurements.
