I’ve been asked by two separate people that use a Breakaway product if it’s possible to have "multiple audio source" – edcast DSP does support this in a sense
In the advanced tab for the encoder setup, there is a checkbox "Always Record from DSP"
What this means is, you can setup the edcast_dsp Live Recording device AND ENABLE IT – but any encoders with the above checkbox ticked will still source the stream from the DSP data (i.e. Breakaway)
Of course, if you are using edcast to switch between mic and music, the above wont be of any use to you
By the way, after all this time on this forum, I finally checked out Breakaway – I’m seriously impressed at how flexible and easy it is to use – at least, Breakaway Live – haven’t looked at the other products, but I’m sure they’re just as impressive.
edit: I’d love to write an edcast that has the same look and feel as Breakaway, and maybe (somehow) is more tightly integrated with it …. goes off pondering …
November 19, 2011 at 8:29 pm #12735Dj BuikMemberMaybe you can work out some kind of deal with Leif?
Edcast fully integrated in Breakaway would be great.

Leif already has excellent streaming facilities in his new framework, so at least wait to see how that works out. 8)November 20, 2011 at 12:01 am #12737radiorioMember

Edcast fully integrated in Breakaway would be great.
November 20, 2011 at 11:48 am #12739JesseGMembernothing to be sorry about. edcast is also excellent. 🙂

November 20, 2011 at 6:15 pm #12741rdrMember
Two questions:
Which version of windows are you running?
Can you find dsp_edcast_v3_0.cfg?
I’m running Win7.
I can’t find any .cfg of Edcast… 🙁
Assuming you already have EdCast running in Breakaway… have you also created an mp3 encoder in EdCast yet?
Yes, I’m broadcasting a stream on the internet… but the ".cfg" doesn’t appear, with this version of Edcast or with older versions… 😥
November 21, 2011 at 6:45 am #12742radiorioMemberedcast_dsp will look for config in the following folders
(Windows Vista/7)
1 – current folder where dsp_edcast.dll is
2 – parent folder of the above if the last folder in the path is pluginsappName is the last folder in 1) or 2) if 1) is plugins
3 – /Users/username/AppData/Roaming/appName/Plugins/dsp_edcast/ *
4 – /Users/username/AppData/Roaming/appName/Plugins/ *
5 – /Users/username/AppData/Roaming/appName/dsp_edcast/
6 – /Users/username/AppData/Roaming/appName/
7 – /Users/username/AppData/Local/appName/Plugins/dsp_edcast/ *
8 – /Users/username/AppData/Local/appName/Plugins/ *
9 – /Users/username/AppData/Local/appName/dsp_edcast/
10 – /Users/username/AppData/Local/appName/
11 – /ProgramData/appName/(windows XP)
1 – current folder where dsp_edcast.dll is
2 – parent folder of the above if the last folder in the path is pluginsappName is the last folder in 1) or 2) if 1) is plugins
3 – /Documents And Settings/username/Application Data/appName/Plugins/dsp_edcast/ *
4 – /Documents And Settings/username/Application Data/appName/Plugins/ *
5 – /Documents And Settings/username/Application Data/appName/dsp_edcast/
6 – /Documents And Settings/username/Application Data/appName/
7 – /Documents And Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/appName/Plugins/dsp_edcast/ *
8 – /Documents And Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Datal/appName/Plugins/ *
9 – /Documents And Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/appName/dsp_edcast/
10 – /Documents And Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/appName/
11 – /Documents And Settings/All Users/Application Data/appName/* – plugins subfolders are only considered if the dsp_edcast.dll is in a folder named Plugins
The first folder from above that is writeable and contains dsp_edcast_v3_0.cfg is selected
Failing that, the first writeable folder is selected, and a new dsp_edcast_v3_0.cfg is createdFailing the above, it wont write configs
I’m running Win7.
In your case, rdr, it will search
1 – current folder where dsp_edcast.dll is … appName is the last folder in the path
2 – /Users/username/AppData/Roaming/appName/dsp_edcast/
3 – /Users/username/AppData/Roaming/appName/
4 – /Users/username/AppData/Local/appName/dsp_edcast/
5 – /Users/username/AppData/Local/appName/
6 – /ProgramData/appName/where appName is the name of the Breakaway install folder – can’t recall, do Breakaway products install in
/program files/abc/def/
or
/program files/abc/
Also, do breakaway products create any /Users/username/appData/Local or /Users/username/appData/Roaming folders?
November 28, 2011 at 10:04 am #12743AnonymousGuestHello everybody!
I’d like to run some aac+ test in order to switch from shoutcast to edcast.
I’m Otsdj user and my hw config is win xp pro sp2, intel pentium 4, ram 2 gb.
Currently I’m running 2 Ots instances with relative dsps and 2 streams per instance….(cpu resources consumption is around 60%… very close to the max allowed limit to get a stable performance)
What edcast release do you suggest and what version? Dsp or Standalone?Thank you.
November 30, 2011 at 7:45 am #12744JesseGMember
I’m Otsdj user
Ots, with all of its audio processing off, outputting into a pipeline.
Breakaway, inputting from that same pipeline, with EdCast loaded into the "Encoders" section (plugin version ofc).If you use the standalone version, you would have to output from Breakaway into another pipeline and then into Edcast, which is adding another few links in the chain to break (the audio driver connections). You’ll also benefit from Breakaway having much better resolution for its internal sample rate than the current Pipelines do. Leif passed along the way to do much more accurate timing to Eugene Muzychenko, the guy that makes Virtual Audio Cable (aka VAC) which is what the Pipeline essentially is a licensed copy of. But you would still be adding more links in the chain to potentially fail.
Now that is interesting. I have been using one of the earlier rio edcasts. Sam output to pipeline1, BAL input1 = pipeline1, BAL output 1 = pipeline 2. I was able to adjust the volume to edcast using BALs ref level (output slider) and the meters in edcast would reflect this (so too would the audio). More recent versions of edcast that I have tried don’t do this.
What has changed and why?
December 2, 2011 at 10:49 pm #12746radiorioMemberNothing has changed in edcast in this regard. Edcast uses the audio it gets, it can’t use the audio it would’ve got if you hadn’t changed the volume somewhere else
August 1, 2012 at 8:06 am #12747radiodiscoMember
What Leif suggested is doing that within the confines of his clipper, with the de-emphasis enabled …😉
Where is de-emphasis ? I have last BBP but I can’t find L/R De-emphasis (on/off)…Thanks
