It stopped playing? That shouldn’t be — looks like you have found a bug for me, thank you 🙂.
It should just play the ad. I’ll look into it.
I haven’t had a chance to think about the multi instance licensing yet, but I will soon!

Forget about it 🙄 was my fault 😈
A problem with the SC server… Everything runs fine again now!January 8, 2009 at 1:51 am #6051LeifKeymasterLPY, your stream sounds great! Processing suits the format, very clean.
It might be unnecessarily quiet though with the 2dB attenuation.
It’s probably not worth trying to out-think the users.. The overshoots you’d get from running 0dB into a 128kbps mp3 codec are no worse than what you get from the average CD encoded to MP3 (in fact probably less of an issue!), and the users who are worried about decoder overshoots are probably already using in_mad with clip protection, or [x] Fast layer 3 EQ, and have pre-amp at -2 in the Winamp Equalizer 🙂. Both methods avoid clipping, but when the stream is also attenuated, all of a sudden we’re attenuating 4dB instead of just 2.

January 8, 2009 at 1:08 pm #6052lpy7MemberThanks Leif. They’re some good points there. I guess I shouldn’t be too concerned about it. The main thing is I have it sounding good, now it’s just a matter of a little fine-tuning to suit.
Cheers.January 9, 2009 at 1:18 am #6053AnonymousGuestquote :I haven’t had a chance to think about the multi instance licensing yet, but I will soon!///Leif
Leif, I have two Breakaway Personal, and bought one license of Breakaway Live. I need a license for a second instance of Breakaway Live, to use in a DJ software (one instance to each deck).
Carlos.
January 9, 2009 at 2:24 pm #6054LeifKeymasterAdamH, x100 server full!
What’s with that? The sound must be too good or something. I guess you’d better upgrade your server 😉.

Try it again. Looks like the eastern half of Europe is starting to go home for the day so more slots should open up.

…and yeah, it is that good. 😉
January 9, 2009 at 6:39 pm #6056AnonymousGuestHello,
I’m a webradio manager for a belgian University.
I just found this amazing product and planning to buy it.But just before, I had a question. We have a 10in/10out soundcard. I was then wondering if it was possible (one way or another) to process the sound from only one input and to outpout it on two separate stereo outputs in only one instance . This is for CPU concerns. The presets being exactly the same on both outputs.
Thank you,
Cheers,
Alex.January 10, 2009 at 6:07 am #6057LeifKeymasterHi Alex, and welcome!
Algorithm wise, it would be an easy thing to do, especially with an ASIO sound card.
User interface wise, on the other hand, would be very complicated.. Supporting a function like this means it would also have to support all sorts of routing combinations. I’m afraid it’s not feasible, due to the support nightmare it would create.
What about a Y splitter on the instead? Seems like a waste to use a 10in/10out sound card for only stereo 😉.
Hey, if you explain the situation really well, and there really is no easier option, maybe I could add an ini-file option to do it. But, you’ll have to motivate very well 😉.

January 10, 2009 at 2:57 pm #6058AnonymousGuestHey Leif.
Thanks for the reply, i’ll try then to explain my situation/studio configuration. To start with, this is my ending goal : to be able to rout the processed sound to my streaming encoder and to get this processed sound back to the headphones system.
Because Breakaway is the only processing sound program I know with this so low latency, I really want to use that feature to put it back to my headphones. There plenty other processing software I could use, but they all have huge time of latency. This is, theoretically, easy to do. Put Breakaway in ASIO Mode, set the DSP-Winamp Encoder, rout the output 1 L/R to an output of the soundcard and plug your heaphone system on it. Done.
Not exactly. I told you my soundcard was a 10in/out and worked in ASIO. Right, but the problem is that all those channels are used and I really cannot unplug one of the output to plug my headphone system on.
So, I’ll use the second soundcard we have on the PC.
But, this one doesn’t support ASIO. So i’ve to disabled this mode. The problem is now that, we also have a recording sofware running on the computer, and because the input channel is already in use by Breakaway, my recording software cannot use that channel anymore.
I could put a Pipline in the Output of Breakway and use that output in my recording software BUT I don’t want the processed sound to be recorded (otherwise, it would be processed twice when broadcasted again by example).
So, I’m there, stuck because I just don’t have any output usable left.
If you understood everyting and have a solution, I’m all yours…Cheers,

😉[/quote]Ahh, this would be the solution. But when I choose ASIO4LL in the ASIO config and launch a sound, Breakaway crashes. I maybe let Leif do some tests.
But thanks anyway for this solution I didn’t know.
Edit : ASIO4ALL is definitely not supported by Breakaway.
Alex.
January 10, 2009 at 4:52 pm #6061LeifKeymasterASIO4ALL did work for me when I tested (briefly), but there’s not much point in using in with Breakaway, since Breakaway already supports kernel streaming natively. ASIO4ALL is simply a KS -> Asio wrapper.
Alex, I’m not sure I understand the situation completely. Without using pure ASIO, latency will likely not be low enough to monitor in headphones. So, if the second sound card doesn’t support ASIO, how would you use it?
Also, even if all outputs are in use, why not use a splitter and headphone amplifier to connect the headphones on one of the channels already in use? 🙂
How about also putting a splitter on the input, so that you could feed the same signal to both the ASIO card and the 2nd sound card? That way the second sound card would get an unprocessed signal which your recording program could use.
It *does* get complicated when using ASIO. Normally, you can use Pipelines and virtual cables to route audio every which way, but ASIO is really only meant to turn a computer into a low latency "hardware" processor.. It’s much less flexible when doing things like this — ASIO was never designed to transfer audio between programs. It does one thing only, and it does it extremely well (and quickly) — get audio in and out of *one* program on a computer.
Ain’t the low latency mode nice though? There’s something special about hearing the processed audio immediately as it’s happening 😉.

January 10, 2009 at 6:55 pm #6062AnonymousGuestRe Leif, and thanks again.
I’ve definately thrown the ASIO4ALL/other soundcard solution away. It wasn’t working as I wanted, and as you said perfectly, ASIO Mode exists for one raison, its low and quick latency.
I’ve then choosen the solution of setting one out channel free and using this one for my headphone system. I’ll manage the stuff with our other soundcard.
I’ve then only one question left. The licence is at $129, upgrades are free as you said, but how much computers is this for ?
Cheers,
Alex.January 14, 2009 at 3:02 pm #6063LeifKeymasterHi Alex!
$129 is one copy, that is, 1 instance on 1 computer.
When you change computers, you can install it on the new computer, but you may only run it on one computer at a time.
Best regards,
