Breakaway only synchronizes RDS if the RDS signal has the 19kHz pilot somewhere. The 57kHz (19kHz * 3) center of RDS is a suppressed carrier, meaning… it’s not actually there.

Coincidentally, I haven’t heard of a radio yet that actually requires the RDS to be synced with the 19kHz pilot. Someone from NPR Labs might say otherwise, because they have tested an UBER TON of radios.

analog stereo coder + rds coder needs to bee synchronized allways.
i think when bbp and the rds software running on one pc and using the same clock as reference it doesnt need to bee sync.

I think part of my problem is that I’m running Stereo Tool through Breakaway and the sound generated by Breakaway is automatically inputed into Stereo Tool. Therefore, when I enable the RDS output to the pipeline, it’s creating a loopback. I’ll continue to hack through this and post my results. I’m reluctant to spend the money on airomate. Perhaps a free RDS generator exists.

The problem is my transmitter only has one input for the audio and mic. I assume the wideband input is built into the audio input considering it has programmable RDS on the front panel. That means the same sound card that runs my processed audio also has to carry the RDS pilot tone. The problem is, I can’t figure out anyway to do this. I tried using a stand alone RDS generator to output to a breakaway pipeline and then using that pipeline as the input. Not only does the RDS REFUSE to show up on any receiver, I get crappy mono sound coming through my audio.

Looks like I’ll just have to give up on this as there obviously isn’t a way that’s going to work with my setup.

    I appreciate the help regardless.

If you can get a grip on your schematic diagram of your transmitter,
then you can build a MPX (BNC) input on it.

Ah the transmitter doesn’t even have composite input. Well there’s your problem. 😉 And yeah, get a schematic so you can bypass the audio front-end on it. 8) You won’t believe how much better it sounds using the composite from Breakaway.
