I was going over some stuff mentally and on paper, and figured out the math behind a change I wanted to make (smoothing out soft to loud input density better), and pulled it off pretty well. So I re-uploaded those two WAVs.
I’ll upload a bit more later.
he jesseG i’ve listened this preset with cool edit and it’s sounds very good perhaps a little more bass!!!!

Part of the challenge is keeping the bass consistent without losing the perception of punch (can’t have too much density or too little clipping)… and keeping it from peaking too loud so the adaptive bass clipping (Breakaway Broadcast only) doesn’t modulate the bass loudness (density is one way to compensate for this). So (oversimplifying things) there’s those two conflicting things going on with the bass.
But either way, I’m still 99% fixated on keeping it much the way it is right now. If you want more bass after the fact (possibly at the expense of consistency of spectrum and loudness, depending how much you push the bass & final gain) you can always use the bass controls in Breakaway. 8) Increasing the bass level control increases both density and peak (before final clipping).

It is perfect.
Always this questions and wishes:
"more bass …. more, more".
Very often not a problem of processing.
In most cases a problem of bad equipment (or bad taste).
Sorry, I did not want to offend anybody.
But, I think one of the intentions for this preset is to process "with respect" to the original sound character.
There are already enough other presets that change the whole sound character of every music to a punchy hammer. And as the name implies this one is a
Passive Aggressor ➡ 💡 ❗➡ Jesse, keep it this way !
April 18, 2010 at 6:23 am #10478AnonymousGuestJesse,
This is flat out AMAZING!
As a webcaster, I have been trying to find the ‘perfect’ sound… Passive Aggressor sounds like the winner 🙂
Right now, I have two stations; one Active Rock and the other Classic Jazz. This preset maybe the ultimate solution for both.
I’d be interested in hearing a couple samples in WMA 10 Pro @ 128K (the format in which we broadcast in).
In our testing of all the streaming formats, WMA 10 seems to be the ‘cleanest’ and most forgiving (one of the few times I’ll give M$ props).
This preset alone would be worth a few more license purchases… I could see using this ASIO mode while restoring some old 78’s… lol.
Thanks to you and Leif for all of your hard work!

Keep on open new Doors and break on through to the other side !

April 22, 2010 at 3:48 am #10481sgeirkMemberWow. I thought Plutonium was pretty close to the sound of my favorite Omnia preset. But, this is dead on, but…way better.
Nice job!

Plutonium ?
😕
For my ears Plutonium and Passive Aggressor have as much similarities as the "twins" Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
in Twins (1988)
Ok, both wear the same suits (jackets, neck-ties and shirts).
Like Plutonium and Passive Aggressor wear the same suits (Breakway).I understood Jesse’s explanations in the way that Passive Aggressor should be some kind of Reference Setting 2.0.
viewtopic.php?p=7092#p7092April 22, 2010 at 3:59 pm #10483AnonymousGuestIncredible…
Beautiful, clean, transparent sound 🙂
I love how this preset can handle any genre you throw at it!
April 22, 2010 at 4:26 pm #10484yorkie98ParticipantI played the Bjork sample of this to a few clients and they were blown away by it, now they all want to know, when does the update come out with this on it. I might even chance upgrading some to a beta versions as I usually don’t upgrade unless there is a new stable release. This preset just might make me change my ways.

Ready or not ?
Or is this preset project canceled ?Still under development ?
If yes, more teasing, please !Or is the release of this preset restricted to the v1.0 release date ?
Something for my unborn grandchildren ?May 2, 2010 at 6:21 am #10486JesseGMember
@ Jesse

Something for my unborn grandchildren ?
As for next release, we will have to see when that comes. For now I am letting the current revision sink in, and I can think about any problems as they come, if I find any more. Leif does have the latest version, so whatever happens, no worries, eh? 8) You will probably hear this with the next updates, and I’m confident this will make it to Breakaway DJ as well. It should sound epic on a large sound system…
Sam "Buca" Michaels once told me that no broadcast audio processing is suitable for large pro-audio systems. He will have to hear this and see what he thinks.

Why 130% modulation ?
This is already de-emphasized (you didn’t think i wanted it to sound that muffled, did you?). I just output from Breakaway Broadcast with the reference level at 0.0dB, and de-emphasize enabled. That way people don’t have to run it through MPX Tool to hear how it sounds. The emphasized version is perfectly peak & modulation controlled, no worries. 8)Also… I’m uploading the top 10 AC tunes run through Passive Aggressor as I type.
