Very clean… easy to listen to for extended periods… nice job!

Thanks! I’m glad you like it.
You can really thank Leif for the clean sound though. 🙂 That, and the fact 99.99% of my audio files are uncompressed WAV files…

    Hi guys,

What do you think guys of the following set-up?

    – Hosted Supermicro 1U server (HD 80, RAM 2Go) running on Windows XP
    – Creative Sound Blaster Sound Card

Regarding the stream, we are looking to have 2 simultaneous bitrate streams:

    1) High bitrate (for a Rock format: MP3 – 128k or 192k?), quality would be welcome but not at the expense of our stream being too "heavy" bandwith-wise.
    2) A lower bitrate for our iPhone app (64k in Acc+ or else?)

Let me know what you think, any recommendations are welcome!

    Cheers!

    Hi,

One question what sound card would you recommend using on a hosted server?

I would like to use BBP, so should I go, ASIO, MPX, a standard 192k capable card?

I understand MPX is only relevant for FM?

Which brand / model would you recommend?

Thanks for your help with this. 🙂

None! First and foremost, a hosted server will probably not even have a sound card. Secondly, it’s not needed. You can use LiveLink to make your playout software connect with breakaway. Somewhere on this forum there are instructions for using Breakaway with both SAM and StationPlaylist in such a situation.

Yes. FM only. Completely irrelevant for anything else.

Breakaway live is fine for streaming. You won’t need the extras Breakaway Broadcast has that are meant specifically for radio broadcast.

    1) 128k mp3 is fine.
    2) 48k AAC+ sounds great. I would also offer a 24k mp3 stream for those who might want to listen using a dialup connection.
