November 6, 2009 at 1:47 pm #7680michi95MemberIt’s interesting which presets are prefered.
But I think it would be better to have more information.Do people use the presets (they voted for here) with the default values (range, power, speed, etc.) or do they tweak these settings (how much) ?
More processing ?
Or less processing ?
I know people that prefer very soft processing values especially for range, power and speed to preserve a wider dynamic range.
For example with some presets like "Twente" it is even possible to expand the dynamic range when you use values close to zero for range, power and speed (for people that are tired of dead loud radio broadcasts) in opposite to Breakaway’s original purpose.Maybe the favorite presets (with most votes) are differently tweaked ?
Some presets benefit more from tweaking the default (50) values than others.
It is like comparing apples and oranges. So it is really difficult to draw conclusions which unpopular presets can be dropped
in future releases.November 6, 2009 at 1:54 pm #7681timmywaParticipantMichi,
My favorite preset is Zenith… I set range down to 40-45, the power up to 70-75 and leave speed at 50. I boost the bass to +10-+13 and leave the shape at 0.
I love Zenith’s natural sound. Keeps the sound consistent and punchy but without that typical FM processed sound. I leave the range lower as this keeps some of the natural dynamics and lets the songs fade out at the end to a degree. I up the power to brighten the sound, I still like processed audio! The bass needs something more on Zenith.
My next fave is Reference Jazz. That tightens things up but doesn’t quite have the crisp brightness I like.
Still need to explore Plutonium as it’s just been added the Breakaway Audio Enhancer.
November 6, 2009 at 2:17 pm #7682michi95MemberOf course people using BA for broadcast purpose need a loud and steady output.
I forgot to mention the question about (private users) the sources and their quantity you process:
Radio broadcasts (pre-processed) ?
Digital or analog ?
Lossy downloads ?
Or Audio CDs ?
More new productions (loud) or more old productions with (too much ?) wide dynamic range ?A really big problem today:
The danger of independant chains of processing:
Music that is (heavy) processed and processed and processed again.
That is the reason why I really like to use two instances of the TT Dynamic Range Meter (sandwiching the processing) to see the dynamic caracteristics of sources and the processed output.November 22, 2009 at 10:40 am #7683condor45Memberhallo leif, sorry ik ken geen engels maar ik wil breakaway gaan kopen hoe doe ik dat.

What settings and what output, Web or FM?

I agree, except I would never just keep the most popular presets, but rather only get rid of the absolutely least popular. "Easy Listening" with tweaks is still "Easy Listening" in the poll, so this particular thing wouldn’t affect the outcome.
Breakaway has been in constant development since the beginning, and I hope everyone agrees that compared to the preset lineup in the very first release, the current lineup is not only better on average but also much more versatile.
Best,
///LeifMarch 27, 2010 at 9:03 pm #7687AnonymousGuestI would like to make my own preset…and save!
How long must I wait to BBP get that option?
March 27, 2010 at 9:53 pm #7688JesseGMemberFull control comes when the Breakaway hardware is released. The price tag is going to be into the thousands of dollars. How much I shouldn’t say, but there have been some changes that have allowed thousands to be taken off of the cost of MAKING the box itself, so… You’ll just have to wait and see if it comes this year or what.
I can tell you for sure though… You’ll want to save up for one. Breakaway already is the hottest cleanest sound on the dial, and the Breakaway box is even more hot & clean. Especially in 75uS markets.
March 27, 2010 at 10:47 pm #7689AnonymousGuestI am a software user..it falls to me that nothing in release
so I would never buy the hardware version
I like to see is a plugin
* save my one pre set
* adjustable clippers..especially the bass clip
* 2 adjustable mpx out on R and L
* adjustable band mix out four more EQ
* adjustable mpx mpx clipperfour a update in bbp 😀
* a 2 band AGC like orban 8300/8400/8500… for a constant fine bass
* a good wide band stereo anhancer like the orban 222a…I do not use the 4 band stereo anhancer in bbp..He does everything or nothing…mono / stereo ratio is poor ):March 28, 2010 at 4:47 am #7690JesseGMember
* a 2 band AGC like orban 8300/8400/8500… for a constant fine bass
actually… 2-band AGC isn’t as consistent overall. but something else to think about… the multiband itself has two bands in the bass where Orban has just one band. so it’s possible to get more consistency with Breakaway than with an Orban.
* a good wide band stereo anhancer like the orban 222a…I do not use the 4 band stereo anhancer in bbp..He does everything or nothing…mono / stereo ratio is poor ):
there’s plugins that emulate that, i forget the one which but someone else remembers. search the forums, it’s already been posted here a few times. this is off topic. 😉 -
