When and how much? Got a prototype pic?
August 6, 2010 at 8:51 pm #11216AudioMember
It’ll only come with the hardware box and will require the totally custom audio card (part of the copy protection) that’s in it in order to be useful.
Very cool! So that’s going to be a hardware box, not one of these sound-cards to be installed on a computer à la Orban or Sound4, correct? Very exciting indeed!
What about off-site servers? I gather we’ll need to set each of those up with the new box?

I can’t say, I can’t say, and no but it’ll look really nice. I don’t wanna give any specifics in case they change em, but it’ll have a large touch screen on it, military grade controls/switches, and a sexy anodized (a clearish coloring process) metal faceplate. It’s going to look really pro… it’s getting mass produced so it’s not going to look like a hacked up computer case anywhere on the front or the back or the inside. 8)
Very cool! Well the Sound4 is actually completely isolated from the computer other than for getting its power source, and I think you can remote control it through the PCI-E port too (in addition to the network)… but don’t quote me on that.Breakaway’s audio component doesn’t even use Windows’ audio subsystems, it’s completely custom from the hardware to Breakaway.

It’s not in every "flavor" of Breakaway since it’s not appropriate for some things like DJing through a large sound system, or for consumer use.August 18, 2010 at 8:58 pm #11220Joop KrauthausenMemberour station just bought live..after we already bought BBp…

I’m not sure what you mean here.
What I mean is basically, what about our webradios running on off-site servers, the only way to benefit from this new box would be to install it physically by the server… too bad it can’t be done via software only (on a server) as the motto of Breakaway has always been "why buy expensive boxes when the software can run on any PC". We are not opposed to paying the big bucks to get top quality, it would just be a life saver (no need to change our whole set-up) to have access to the new box features directly on a server… Does this make sense ? 😕
Oh!!! What’s this 0.90.77 version, the real deal or just a typo? 😳
