Well, this would be an interesting bug, if it does turn out to be in the software. I just installed two ASIO versions last night. Downloaded Ver 0.90.93 from the link on this site, loaded it in, authorized it & it’s working right out of the box. On both of these installs I can open the tilt parameters, so long as HPF isn’t off, so I thought that might be what was stopping you.
I thought it might be a sensitivity to what card was plugged in (I’m using the Audiophile 192). Don’t have anything else here to test that idea, at least not with the ASIO version, though I also have the standard BBP here, and it does the same thing, both with the 192 card and through the computer’s onboard audio. Seems that would tend to point to something other than the ASIO version, maybe?
That probably doesn’t help you much, but from here it doesn’t look like a bug in the software.
March 11, 2010 at 11:14 pm #10066AM RobertMemberThanks RJ, That does help allot because I now know that the AM related features do still come with the paid ASIO version. I could not get anybody in corporate HQ to give me an answer so Im guessing with your paid order you get a contact number or email address you can call for support if needed?

I just told you that it DOES come with it, and that if it’s not working then it’s a bug… or maybe even user error. If the software didn’t have the features, the buttons wouldn’t be included grayed out just to tease the customer. You don’t really think that, do you?OK, I’m going to try this right now.
Ok, here’s my test setup 🙂
Reaper… uses a 64bit audio engine so there’s no qualms about quality there. 🙂 Setup like so:
http://stashbox.org/820805/03122010-074 … icense.pngAnd track 1 of that is outputting through ReaRoute which is Reaper’s own routing engine which supports other applications (it also does rewire, osc, etc).

http://stashbox.org/820810/03122010-074 … r-ASIO.pngBreakaway ASIO I/O Config:
http://stashbox.org/820808/03122010-074 … r-ASIO.png
As you can see we’re getting our inputs from, and outputting to, ReaRoute 1/2.Breakaway ASIO Calibration:
http://stashbox.org/820811/03122010-074 … r-ASIO.png
Make a mental note that the reference output level here is -6 dBFS.All to NTSC spec… then, the audio routes back through ReaRoute and I’m monitoring & recording it in Reaper, on track #2.
Saved track #2 as 32bit float, still VERY high quality audio. Let’s have a look at that in Adobe Audition v1.5:
http://stashbox.org/820801/03122010-073 … dition.pngIt looks like asymmetric clipping has happened. Let’s have a look at the statistics 🙂
http://stashbox.org/820813/03122010-074 … istics.png
Notice… the peak amplitudes are:
-3.06 dB
-2.89 dB
for the left & right channel respectively. What that means is there was 150% above -6 dB somewhere within that recording. You can see in the screenshot that it happened a LOT too. 🙂Let’s also check out the spectral content:
http://stashbox.org/820817/03122010-075 … dition.png
As you can see, the signal is completely band-limited just before 10kHz.Conclusions:
- It it absolutely doing asymmetrical clipping properly.
- It is absolutely band limiting using the low-pass filtering correctly.
- The Calibration dialog has a bug where some of the controls are "paginated" below the window and are unusable, including the low-pass filter width & shape controls which are useful in AM broadcasting.
March 13, 2010 at 9:38 am #10068AM RobertMemberYour screen shots helped clear up my missing menu’s. (Very Nice Thanks!)
On my demo I was not just talking about non functioning gray out boxes, I was referring to the tilt correction menu’s that is NOT incorporated on the (.93) demo I have and since I will be using the BBP on restored vintage AM plate modulated transmitters you can see why I will need the LF phase and overshoot correction. What confused me about your earlier post is you stated it (should) and before I was going to order my BBP I needed to confirm that it (Does). BJ kindly informed me that his recently purchased BBP has all of the working AM menu’s that my demo doesn’t include which eased my concerned so I placed my order. I also downloaded the Breakaway Live and set it up with the ASIO driver. This processor works great with very low latency and all the features perform very well including the low and high pass bandwidth filters.
I have set up Omnia’s Orbans and plenty of the older CRL AM processor’s and I am lookin forward to see how the BBP performs in the Air Chain. The biggest difference is the design considerations I had to make on the my rack mounted PC which will need to live around a strong RF environment so I had to install RFI filters on all the leads including putting Rf chokes on EMU 1212 I/O’s. Thanks again for the nice screen shots. We’ll Chat!
RobertApril 3, 2010 at 8:40 am #10069LeifKeymasterYou’re absolutely right about the gui. I apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you very much for the help in tracking it down, i will make sure it’s in perfect working order for 0.90.94.

April 3, 2010 at 9:08 am #10070LeifKeymasterHere we go:
The PEQ2 was broken before (I simply forgot to add the code to the ASIO audio back-end, it worked fine in regular BBP) — now fixed.
PEQ2 controls are now also greyed out in low latency mode.
PEQ is only available in phase linear mode! This is intentional — phase linear PEQ adds latency, and we don’t have any room to spare in low latency mode, it’s already borderline. If you want low latency, you will have to use good pro equipment which does not need EQ compensation from the software.
Same with HPF vs Tilt — if you turn off the HPF, you will need a DC straight path (Marian Trace Alpha sound card), Tilt correction will not help without a HPF to limit the work it must do.
