I carerfully listened (for 20 sec 🙂 ) and this is Zenith 😉 Final Drive maybe bit down and bass added bit more.
edit: ow he confirmed 🙂
@ radio. it’s not mistake to have DeClipepr from StereoTool at all!!. Default settings should be good. BBP loads plugins before AGC, so ideal place for DeClipper.
Maybe "vail" to 93% 😉
Hehe also tried the Zenith with a little bass boost in the low mid compartment, sounds very nice, none of the BBP plugins are used now.
Boki and Radio Oude Stijl thx for the tip 🙂October 4, 2011 at 6:15 pm #12573JesseGMember@ using plugins before Breakaway… ultimately what i’ve found is that the more refined the sound of Breakaway is to where you want to go… the more that altering the sound before hand gets in the way of the purity of that place in sound.
This includes any distortions or phase shifts or impulse responses of analog/digital gear as well.
Breakaway is capable of being a very pure sounding thing, and overall that’s what everyone that I know personally loves most about it, when they realize that. Undo is really a perfect partner for that. It’s the one effect that makes the most sense, but is also dynamic enough (completely) that it doesn’t get in the way of that purity, but rather enhances that feeling overall.
I’m hoping some people will try out Passive Aggressor long enough to realize that … sounds like that are the future. One like that which are even more transparent in their feeling, yet also more consistent. This is where I’m going anyways, with my personal processing habits. If when you hear it, and you agree, then you have to ask yourself… why would I broadcast anything that I wouldn’t personally prefer to listen to myself?
That question has existed since day one, but we’re just getting to the point where this purity can win even against sounds that are decently louder at a given playback gain. Even in the short term. Even on FM. And I can’t wait to see the first station running a 9 with Passive Aggressor.
October 4, 2011 at 6:22 pm #12574BokiMemberi will rather choose Orlando 🙂

D*mn… would I like to get my hands on a Passive Agressor preset for BAL… 🙄
BTW Jesse, to kind of go the opposite way of everything you just said: do you know of any good expander plugins to use alongside the declipper (get it closer to O.9)? Or should I just leave it at this?October 5, 2011 at 11:41 am #12576AudioMember
@ using plugins before Breakaway… ultimately what i’ve found is that the more refined the sound of Breakaway is to where you want to go… the more that altering the sound before hand gets in the way of the purity of that place in sound. I agree so much with this, the sound just seems fuller too without all the preceeding plugins… but how does one solid bass? Just by using the bass cut & shape controls?
As is the case for everybody, I am looking forward to get my hands on THE Passive Agressor 🙂
Cheers,

October 5, 2011 at 5:07 pm #12577JesseGMemberThat’s a tough question actually. It’s all too easy to just splash a ton of harmonics into the bass area, and hope the multiband makes up the difference, and what you gain in consistency is mostly because it makes a lot more things have mushy undetailed bass.
The controls in Breakaway now are a good start. It’s partially like an Orban where their suggestion is to adjust a bass shelving EQ, it’s partly changing the thresholds, and it’s partly adjusting how aggressive the bass clipper is acting (but not the mode/type of bass clipper because there are 3 you can select from when creating a preset) because of the bass hitting it harder. Increasing the aggressiveness of the bass clipper definitely will create more harmonics, some presets more than others, so that’s something to be aware of.
Also… I’ve been working on something new that can make certain material sound much larger than it does originally, without harming the peak dynamics at all. Eventually when we have time, I’m hoping to convince Leif that it might be worth while to try it with the fully dynamic methods I’m thinking of. 8) Sort of like the opposite of Undo, for audio that falls into the "very dynamic and also very sparse" category. A good example of such a track is "ABBA – Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" (although I haven’t heard this song on the Omnia.11 with an OPEN sounding preset, yet).
