Just install on top. 🙂
The current installer contains the same version of VAC as BBP / Live. I’m hoping to have a newer version before official release.

Workaround for a Windows XP clock resolution bug implemented. Result: No more stuttering audio after resuming from standby on some systems! Resume from standby now works fine with audio playing.
FM Mode tilt correction clip bug fixed! Protection clipping is now done after the output volume control, not before.

Thanks, Leif for doing such an amazing job on all of this!
Just another plug for un-skinning the mouse cursor or making it an option.
Thanks!
November 11, 2009 at 12:32 am #4954LeifKeymasterIt’s such a shame there’s no "Pointer with sideways arrows" default cursor. I suppose I could just use the regular pointer and forget the custom one.

FM mode audio quality improvements — much better bass, better level consistency between different presets. Also slightly lower cpu usage and lower latency 🙂.
Custom cursors removed. I guess I don’t miss them. How about you?
CPU usage figures for Breakaway Audio Enhancer: (Windows XP, Atom N280 Netbook, Main window small enough to only show controls):
Reference Low CPU, Normal mode: 11%
Reference Low CPU, FM Mode: 30%Helix, Normal mode: 18%
Helix, FM mode: 37%///Leif
November 11, 2009 at 1:22 pm #4956timmywaParticipantI see that you prefaced some improvements by saying they’re specific to FM Mode Quality. I apologize but did you make changes on bass and level to the presets themselves or to how the FM Mode uses them? As well as latency and CPU use. In other words, if I do not use FM Mode, will I benefit from these changes?
Thanks for the clarification.
November 11, 2009 at 11:43 pm #4957LeifKeymasterHi Timmy!
Outside of FM mode, audio quality is 100% like it has always been 😉. So, no benefit in that case.

November 12, 2009 at 7:19 pm #4958timmywaParticipantWhat about an integrated way to use outside audio. I would think an LPFM would need to attach their console into the system to utilize the new FM Mode….
I understand you made it that way on purpose previously to limit functionality and differ it from Professional and Live. Is that still the case or have strategies changed?
Thanks!

November 30, 2009 at 10:26 am #4960AnonymousGuestHi there,
New to BAE after recommendations from the Spotify forums. You will certainly get my recommendation in the future. The sound difference is dramatic. As a previous poster said, get this product out there!! If it wasn’t for the Spotify poster I would never have known about this.
I understand the development time on the program and the requests from users are something you listen to. If I can ask for my one request:
As I use Windows 7 64-bit the taskbar toolbar does not show as an option. This looks such a cool feature it would be appreciated if this could be activated in the 64-bit version of windows. Would really appreciate the Scope+Meters option?
Once again thanks for a great sounding product.
December 1, 2009 at 12:09 am #4961LeifKeymasterThanks for your great comments! Tell all your friends 🙂.
The toolbar is something I’m looking into. Because of the way I implemented the toolbar, it may be relatively easy to implement a 64-bit version, even though Breakaway itself will stay a 32-bit app for the foreseeable future.
I still need to implement proper transparency, but that’s a common thing for Vista 32/64 as well as Windows 7 32/64.
Stay tuned 🙂.

May 19, 2010 at 1:42 pm #4963AnonymousGuestNot to dig up an older thread. but I figured i’d post my notes.
I had BAE in extended trial mode on my (now old) install of Win 7.. and for no reason at all.. it started to interupt suspend.. (it may have been an on going thing.. but I only noticed because I de-activated Hibernate and was on the road more often)
It was very embarassing to arrive at a customers with a hot and flat laptop.Checked it a few times with the Win7 power diagnoistic and the BAE driver was refusing to goto sleep..
Anyway. I’m trying the latest build now.. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Oh and I promise I’ll buy a copy now the wedding is all sorted and the missus lets go of the purse strings.. -
