So is BADJ going to become the "poor cousin" just because you designed it for big speakers in "DJ" venues?
Definitely not! DJ has many features not available in any other Breakaway product, and it will get more presets over time. There’s no point in releasing it on the same schedule as the broadcast products though, as that would take time away from actual Breakaway DJ feature development!
I do intend for Breakaway DJ to be "the only Breakaway you need" even if you’re not DJ’ing at the time.
However, I do have to be very careful about what presets I put in, because if I included all the broadcast presets and features from Live, it would have to be the same price of a 2-instance Live, and then it would be too expensive for casual DJ use.
Maybe I bought the wrong product? Give me something that provides the very low latency for video display, with the supurb audio manipulation you provide.
I thought I did 🙂. What are you missing exactly?
Best regards,
///Leif
Can you give a brief overview of what is coming in the "Released Breakaway DJ" program and approximately when.I too was starting to feel like the BADJ product was the "Poor Cousin" since there is no release from Beta yet or docs etc.
I recognize there is ongoing development but what is the BADJ "Baseline" to develop from?
April 8, 2010 at 6:44 pm #10335LeifKeymasterThe BADJ std feature set is pretty much done, will add more presets and convenience features like toolbar and keyboard cmds though.
There will also be a pro version with 4 decks, mic processing (karaoke mode) and timecode vinyl support.
Std will be upgradable to pro, too.

April 9, 2010 at 3:36 am #10336JesseGMemberThe most popular television broadcast audio processors in the world run Breakaway as the core audio processing, and cost $15,000+ … as heard on the super bowl, olympics, grammy’s, eurosport, nbc/abc/cbs/fox/etc, and most digital television period.
NOTHING is "poor cousin" with that audio processing inside of it, with any feature set, at any price.
Hopefully nuff said.
If the feature set isn’t right for you, and one of the other options is, talk to support about what you can upgrade to. That’s what I would do. Maybe you want all of the added features in a multi-core Live setup.

Not quite sure what that last sentence means, but Motor City doesn’t just have to be for rock. See if you like the texture for the style of music you play, and think about what your listeners want. If it works for them, then great. 8)

And… if i may say … hopefully soon on our tv station. We are equipping our live mobile set and our playout chain with Breakaway Live,….
The order will be made shortly. If i may make a suggestion.. Leif .. build a tv-processor or better.. create "a button"- ©Joop 2010 in live so it becomes a tv processor.
It would make my life so much more beautiful 🙂 eghehehe.Make me smile leif !

April 10, 2010 at 10:34 pm #10343LeifKeymasterI’ve got a better idea, why don’t you buy an Aero.air from Linear Acoustic for your TV station? It even has the full control you keep requesting.
If that’s out of your price range, ba live will do a decent job as is as long as you’re broadcasting stereo. Use LIGHT processing like Ref Settings.

I only see the ALPA looking for the Release could it not be located with the other Software thread listing current versions?

those are the latest available versions of each software.
April 11, 2010 at 4:37 am #10347LeifKeymasterI could build one with a beta or release label right now, but it won’t be tried and true like the current alpha-labeled version is, as it would be brand new, built from my constantly-changing codebase 🙂.
Really, the label doesn’t mean anything. I’d definitely use it myself if I was a DJ.
