If no audio drivers are involved, where’s the actual source audio for the stream coming from? All generated on the server itself?
If so, 2008 x64 should theoretically be fine. If it ain’t broken, don’t mess with it 🙂.

That’s correct, the audio is being generated via Stationplaylist on the same server… I shall stick with this 2008-R2-64bits O.S., should I run into problems I will let you guys know. At least there are no 64-bit audio driver in this set-up. 😯
Thanks

But i am not using the soundcard, i directly stream from BBP to the encoder in Edcast. It’s running very stable, only Edcast is a sensitive application.. but that has nothing to do with the 64-bit system. 32-bit is also supported in Windows 7 64-bit, so nothing to worry about i guess.
Hmm i really have to go now, time for my afternoon walk.
April 25, 2010 at 9:26 pm #10318camcloneMemberAfter some days and some tests ( OFF AIR…) and installations i can say this :
The problem doesn’t have to do only with 64 bit version! i installed windows 7 32 bit and i had the same problem,
SO, it is indead a " esi juli " soundcard drivers 32 and 64 bit problem and has nothing to with windows 7 32 or 64 operating system.
finnaly, i wanted to make this post becuse the blame should go to ESI JULI drivers and NOT to microsoft !
Windows 7 32 and 64 bit are BY FAR THE BEST AND MORE STABLE THAN ANY OTHER .
Breakaway and Airomate runs 100% stable on 32 and 64 bit versions of windows 7.
I tested it.The problem is with some ESI JULI drivers and some settings on the windows sounds ( recording and playback settings – sample rate , bit depth SHARED MODE SETTINGS 🙂 ..that was the cause.. 🙂
So, YOU CAN USE WINDOWS 7 64 BIT ..BUT with windows sounds SHARED MODE SETTINGS to 192 kHz imput and output ( not the default 44100..) in order to be stable.
thank y

I’ve bought a Juli@, I’ll install it as soon as I get back home. Flying tomorrow.
