Is there a way to achieve RDS with stereo tool 6.21, Breakaway and still have stereo sound? When I enable it my sound ouput is in mono.
February 11, 2012 at 10:39 pm #13019dancemusicradioParticipantdon’t know about rds but you could try the sterio enhancers on breakaway. i recomend challenger sterio enhancer. think theirs a program which works with breakaway that provides rds.
February 12, 2012 at 3:09 am #13020bennylein1985MemberYes, there is a way 🙂
February 12, 2012 at 4:36 pm #13021AlcyoneMemberThanks, still don’t get it. If the RDS input in breakaway is "2 mix", which I assume means both channels mixed together, then how could the MPX output ever be stereo? Or do I need both inputs and outputs enabled with just the pilot tone going to the pipeline? When I try that I get weird sound echoing with a stereo and mono stream mixed together.
February 12, 2012 at 10:27 pm #13022JesseGMembercomposite and rds are both mono signals. perhaps this is confusing you?
i’ll be honest, the way all of the posts are worded so far in this topic is confusing to me. i have to wonder if anyone else was confused also, and perhaps gave you advice based on the wrong idea of what you’re trying to say the problem is. hopefully i’m wrong, and you understand, that’s all that matters. hehe.
February 13, 2012 at 2:26 am #13023AlcyoneMemberPerhaps that’s the case. I’ll start over.
I’m trying to transmit some text to my radio and keep my stereo sound the way it is. Is there a way to do this? My transmitter has programmable RDS on the front panel.
Thanks

February 14, 2012 at 5:16 am #13025bennylein1985MemberYou have to use only the rds output from stereo tool !!!!
Set the fm output from stereo tool too bbp pipeline 1.
Than open the bbp i/o configuration menue and set pipeline 2 for l/r input. (kernel streaming 44.1khz and 2 channel i think)
Than set pipeline 1 for rds input (1 channel 192khz KS)
And than select your soundcard for the mpx output. (ks 192khz 2channel)Last you must set the output from your automation/player to pipeline 2.

2) Many of us only have experience of one of the Breakaway products, and it may not be the one you asked about.
3) Many do not even know what RDS means.

I apologize for my attitude. I understand the situation here. I will poke around a bit and see if i can find a solution to the issue, then post my results here so others will know what to do. There’s a pretty good guide on this site regarding airomate, but that program isn’t free and the trial version doesn’t give you the functionality to conduct a proper test before you buy it. I will also try bennylein1985’s suggestion.February 14, 2012 at 8:00 pm #13029MilkyKeymasterPlease keep us posted. We can all learn a little by your experiments, and, if there are areas where you hit a wall, ask here again – someone may already have climbed that same wall.

February 15, 2012 at 1:40 am #13031AlcyoneMemberWhenever I try to set anything to kernel streaming in the I/O config I get an error that says "failed to create input pin". Is this because I need ASIO?

Sure is. You can either use StereoTool or AiroMate (http://www.diffusionsoftware.com) to create the RDS service. Output either of the programs into one of Breakaway’s Pipeline (eg: Breakaway Pipeline 3) and have that nominated as the RDS input.
Remember – RDS output is techically adding to the output MPX, and it will appear MONO when you listen to it directly. To take a listen to your MPX audio output in stereo, output Breaway into a spare Breakaway Pipleline and use Leif’s MPXTool to monitor it.
What you need to understand is Breakway will throw away all of the audio content, take the RDS data and regenerate it onto the Breakaway MPX output, so that both the 19k pilot tone and 56k RDS pilot are "in phase". Hence do not waste CPU power doing audio processing in both StereoTool and Breakway. Breakway’s audio output is what you will end up with!
Not sure why you are using StereoTool (which can do processing, MPX creation and RDS insersion) when all you need is a RDS creation tool. I have found AiroMate just as flexible and (from memory) slightly cheaper.
