OK, so computer built and delta 44 acquired. All going good on a fresh install of windows 7 home 32bit.
Everything seems to be working fine except the studio monitor out. The problem is distortion on the output. I have 4 outs on the soundcard with 1&2 as FM audio out and 3&4 as studio monitor out.
On the GUI for the soundcard it shows the software return meters (internal outs from BBP). The studio out is quite a bit louder than the FM out (maybe 8-10db). I think this is where the distortion is happening. I have no control over the levels between BBP out and the sound card.
The distortion is a lot less on Regulator and News/Talk presets.
If I turn the input down the distortion goes but it has to go down to -40dbfs. This is not a solution….
The FM out is always good. I tried increasing the buffer but with no effect.
I tried assigning the studio out to different outs on the soundcard and the problem moved. In calibration all the studio out limiter/clippers are unchecked.
Also tried different latency settings but no change.Any ideas very welcome. I’m going to download and try the BBP with live to see how it goes. I would prefer to use the asio version though.
September 20, 2010 at 3:09 pm #11462AnonymousGuestAfter a quick test it looks like it’s just the beta that’s distorting.
I went back to the current release and while there is still a level difference between the studio and fm out there doesn’t seem to be distortion.September 20, 2010 at 4:23 pm #11463JesseGMemberThere shouldn’t be any distortion in the current version according to the latest software topic.
Try investigating the speaker controller. 🙂
September 20, 2010 at 6:04 pm #11464AnonymousGuestHere’s what I have done.
Install 0.90.95, set up audio i/o, select zenith and listen to studio monitor out. Result is distorted.
Install 0.90.78, set up audio i/o, select zenith and listen to studio monitor out. Result is NOT distorted.
Repeated this process twice with the same results..Tried ASIO4ALL instead of the M-Audio ones but made no difference.
It’s digital clipping/distortion as you know by the sound.
I would stick with 0.90.78 but I would really miss the stereo enhancer. Is the enhancer available as a separate plugin?
Any ideas?
September 22, 2010 at 6:04 am #11465AnonymousGuestIt’s a bug in 0.90.95 due to the change in bit resolution which has left the studio monitor out +4db louder than it should be.
I’m sticking with 0.90.78 for now until the next release.Ant
September 22, 2010 at 7:45 am #11466JesseGMemberAh i thought that was fixed for all of the versions with speaker controllers that moved to the 64bit processing. that’s a bummer.
November 2, 2014 at 9:27 pm #11467astrastudioMemberIs there any fix for that distortion/digital clipping on Studio Out Problem?
I have the problem that 0.90.95 ASIO has a too loud signal on Studio Outputs 🙁Is someone going to fix that?
Can't find the old version anywhere. Does someone still have the installer and could you please give me a working downloadlink for the version that does not have this nasty bug?
Thank you very much 🙂
