Hi there
Just wondering if anyone has tested with any sucess PCI Express soundcards.
September 1, 2010 at 6:26 pm #11243LuKParticipantYes, I’m using this "http://uk.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=zCDHPnfR1jymHK2f&templete=2" and all work fine, with BBP. 😉
September 1, 2010 at 8:41 pm #11244JesseGMemberHow is the ASIO on that card? I know the other ASUS cards have not performed in an even usable way with ASIO.

Jesse, I dont’use ASIO features, but, if you want, can I test it for you. 😉 What can I do?September 2, 2010 at 4:24 pm #11246GeorgeMemberHi,
using Xonar D2 PM (PCI) but also D2X (PCIe) and always with BreakAway only one word can remember
about ASIO on Xonar cards… Forget it!
Lot of sync problems, clicks etc. at any setting that I’ve tryed.
For all the rest, Xonar is a very good audio card.Great combination for BreakAway and PCIe card is ESI Maya44e.

G.September 3, 2010 at 11:44 pm #11247feelingMemberThe MAYA44e is a high quality 24-bit / 96 kHz. It not goes to 192khz it will not work for mpx. Maybe you was confused with MAYA44 (without the "e), this card can play up 192khz and rec up 96khz and it will work for mpx.
September 4, 2010 at 12:43 am #11248GeorgeMemberSure, but it’s great for a webradio 😉
Check this:
http://www.emu.com/products/product.asp … duct=19169I really hope EMU 1212M PCIe to have the same excellent results as 0404 (PCI).
From my experience, 0404 it is one of the best low-cost audio cards.September 4, 2010 at 10:45 am #11249JesseGMemberthe Juli@ is $10 cheaper than the Maya 44e, is 192kHz throughout, and it just plain sounds decently better to boot. plus the balanced/unbalanced hat-trick. i know which card from them that I would still choose.
September 4, 2010 at 6:08 pm #11250GeorgeMember..but is PCI, not PCIe ❗

and … ?September 5, 2010 at 5:01 pm #11253GeorgeMemberto feeling:
Nice, if you have one computer for all…
But, if you use seperate PC’s for automation software and streaming and in the middle there is
an audio mixer you need also two high quality audio cards.to JesseG:
…I thought we discuss about PCIe audio cards.
Anyway, if you have the option to install PCI/PCIe at the mobo maybe Juli@ is better.
Depends to your needs…Regards to all of you,

absolutely. 🙂September 13, 2010 at 6:04 am #11255AnonymousGuestPCI vs PCIe was something i researched for a long time before committing. Emu 1212M is cardbus and is PCI only, not e. However it was a great card years ago and I loved it. But as laptops futhered, PCIe was only available without an adapter back to PCI, which is silly. That brought me to what I have now, RME HDSPe + Multiface II which I use on both desktop and laptop with the same breakout box.
PCI standard had a pipe of about 540mb/s where as PCIe I believe is about 1.5gb/s. So for engineers and musicians, it allows more simultaneous channels to be streamed before you run into latent pipe issues.
As a DJ it also allowed me to lower my latency to 1ms stably on VDJ and 1.5ms on Traktor without any glitches, where previous I needed to be above 3ms. This is very key if youre a turntablist because the latency is very dificult to get beyond when you heavily scratch.
From alot of research I only found latency issues when studies were made using PCIe platform in digital switches for telcos. However in the audio world, this is not a factor.

September 13, 2010 at 7:15 am #11256AnonymousGuestHmm, okay that was OT to the original question. Yes, I have tested BBP with PCIe, it worked fine. However back to my thread in the pro products page, the last working version of BBP ASIO for me is .78 build and since then has been forgotten.
I have honestly not tried the other versions, because Im not interested in using WMM based for audio. I assume they work fine because its an old platform and hard to go wrong. But in retrospect I am well aware of the adage "when you assume, you make an ass out of u and me"
