I installed and paid for a full version of Breakway Audio Enhancer. It worked great for a month or 2 with Itunes and Windows 7 . All of a sudden it stopped working until I go to the set up Wizard and press test and leave it on test. It seems the audio engine is not initiated until the test button is pressed. Leaving it on test works fine. The sound is not muted or anything. When I don’t press test the oscillator indicates that music is being played, but I can’t hear it. Weird. I am sorry if not enough information. It’s my first post. I am not that tech/puter savvy and I couldn’t work out how to do a post. Can you help? Cheers + thanks Nic

When you say you can see the sound on the ‘scope, are you seeing a wave form on both the input and the output screens, or just the input?
If you’re using the Wizard to set it up, try checking the "safe mode" box and see if that does the trick.
If you’re using the full setup, make sure you’re choosing "Breakaway Pipeline" as the input and your soundcard as the output. Kernel Streaming (KS) is the best choice, but if you’re having trouble with that (or it’s simply not an option) try Wave, or in a worst-case scenario, DS, and see if that makes a difference.
I’ve had this happen once, after some flavor of Windows 7 update, and had to uninstall/re-install BAE.

Jim[/quote]You’d put Wave above DS? Interesting. I guess Wave is a true source where DS is a contrived, simulated quasi-source… Someone better explain that? Jesse?

Do you use version 1.30.2 ?
Important:
Please do a screenshot of your Breakaway Enhancer main window (with oscilloscope activity) !Have you installed any additional Breakaway Live, Broadcast, etc. trial version ?
June 24, 2010 at 6:48 am #5243AnonymousGuestThanks so much for your interest and help.
• The oscillators are showing waves in both input and output.
• Tried safe mode and same problem.
• Breakaway pipeline is the input and soundcard is the output.
• Tried Ks then wave then DS, same problem.
• Did a reinstall and same problem.
• Version is 1.30.02 and no other Breakaway product is installed.
• Will organize a screenshot.
Weird.Cheers

June 24, 2010 at 12:11 pm #5246Dr.JMemberTry turning off FM mode and turning up the volume (it’s currently set to -84db, very quiet by anyone’s standards). That should fix your problem.

Hi Timmy!
I, too, would like to hear Jesse chime in. My suggestion was based upon the I/O section of the Breakaway documentation, which recommends DS be used "only if the above options (KS and Wave) do not work satisfactorily."
It occurred to me just now that I didn’t ask Nic about how his Windows audio mixer was set up – are the various sliders turned all the way up there – master volume, input, etc? And have you gone into the "Sound" settings in control panel to make sure Breakaway Pipeline is your default playback device?

Very quiet ?
Indeed very, very, very, unbelievable quiet !!!
In theory at -90dB the volume is considered to be mute.
In practice -84dB is already mute.@ All
Open your eyes !
@ ndo5085
➡ Turn the volume carefully (!) up !
In test mode this main window volume setting is ignored. The I/O setup uses its own volume slider (-12dB default).Case closed !
July 21, 2010 at 11:27 am #5249AnonymousGuestThank you all so much especially michi. I just worked out the problem and how to turn up the volume slide (duh!! am so stoopid.) The system seems to default to almost mute but I will check that. Anway it works a treat, and a loud one at that a loud one!!! Thanks again for your in put.
