    Lief:

I am using your software for WTTR, 1470 khz., Westminster, MD. 1 kw. I would like to add some mid-level eq to the on air sound. I am currently using "French Kiss" and it has a good sound, but I would like to add some presence and openess.

Any ideas you might have, will be appreciated.

All of the presets are set in the middle position. 60 hz and 10 khz bandwidth, 25 us pre emphasis. Tilt set at 3. Audio card Juli@.

    thank you,

    J.R.Richardson

    Hi, J.R.

I’m getting ready to do the same thing on a 10kW Station in Washington State. Haven’t finished it yet though. Waiting for a new exciter to arrive & just finished modding the card today. Should be fun to see what this can do with that wonderful, wideband medium we call AM! 🙂

I’m wondering why you chose the 25 microsecond setting, considering NRSC is a modified 75 curve???

You might also check out the CHR preset. It sounds like it has a little less lower mid-range…. might help you out a bit.

I’m thinking that if you were to set that up a notch or two, you might get the presence you’re looking for.

Otherwise, maybe some wisdom you’d like to share?

    Thanks!

    Jack

Try Cleveland – has some great presence! Just back the speed right off and give it a power boost!

    Jack,

The CHR does have a nice kick to it. I used the 25 us pre emphasis because when amax came in, that was the original number. I tried the 75 us pe and it didn’t make that much difference on the am.

Cleveland does not quite do it for me.

I spent a good deal of time, making all of the levels coming into the processor normalizing levels.

I tried a bunch, and seemingly the best sounding "crisp" high-end with the low-pass set to 10kHz… is Rustonium. 8) Try that preset, with the final drive adjusted to your preference.

The weird thing is that I actually did make an AM-specific version of that which was supposed to kick in at 10kHz at under, but it’s not doing that in the latest Breakaway. Perhaps it slipped Leif’s mind, or for some other reason he decided not to do it.

But I remember that special low-bandwidth preset being quite crisp sounding.

    Anywho… good luck.
