I’m trying out Breakaway Live, but haven’t been able to set it up to process CD’s. I have the sound card chosen as input and output and can hear the CD playing on my receiver, while it’s running through BL. However, it doesn’t appear to be processing the audio and there’s a slight lag in the audio. I’m sure I’m missing a few things here….

Have you read Readme-BreakawayLive.txt (inside your Breakaway Live program folder) ?

    quote :

I can hear the CD playing on my receiver

Using an aux (or CD) input connected to your PC soundcard output ?

Why do you want to use your (external) CD player ?
This way you are degrading the audio quality, because the digital signal (saved on the CD) has to be converted into an analog signal (except you are using a professional digital connection, but I think you were talking about an analog connection, right ?).
This analog signal has to be converted into a digital signal inside the soundcard -> Breakaway processing -> and has to be converted into an analog signal again.
Every (D/A = digital/analog) conversion degrades the audio quality.

It would be much easier and better to use your internal PC CD/DVD reader to play the CDs digital (without the need of additional conversions).
-> You can rip the CDs (using the free Exact Audio Copy software) to your harddisk and stop wasting your time (opening and closing the CD drive every time you want to hear music from another CD) !
A 1 TB harddisk can save approx. 1500 audio CDs (as uncompressed WAV, 1:1 copy) !

I haven’t played much with Live, but shouldn’t the Breakaway Pipeline be set as the input? Forgive me if I’m mistaken!

    I forgive you Jim ! 😆

Odd or not – jcr102 wants to process the signal from his external CD player ( soundcard input) !

Breakaway Pipeline should be set as input to process files playing on your computer, but not for external sources (soundcard input) !

Read Readme-BreakawayLive.txt (inside your Breakaway Live program folder) !

    AH!

Missed that one entirely – and after re-reading the post, not sure how I could. He spelled it out and I still skipped over that part.

    Dang middle age 🙂
