Hi,
I downloaded the demo for Breakaway Audio Enhancer. I had it working and started OTSAV DJ and did not have my external sound card hooked up. I started a song in OTS and noticed a delay of about a half second. I also use video but haven’t tried that yet.
I’m using an HP laptop with plenty of processing power. It’s Vista 32.
Thanks for any help.
Dave
ps. I used the search function and it didn’t return anything.

May 11, 2010 at 5:13 pm #10688Dj BuikMemberUse this product for OTSAV:

Second you need to use a soundcard who is capable to support ASIO drivers.
May 11, 2010 at 8:25 pm #10689Dr.JMemberI use OtsAV also, running Breakaway Audio Enhancer with video and don’t have any noticeable latency. I am running in real time priority with KS drivers and buffer sizes of 128 for 4 buffers into 2 channels. Sound-card is and EchoAudio MiaMidi or Denon HC-4500.
It might be a settings issue or a Vista driver issue that is causing you problems. If you have an ASIO capable sound-card I too would recommend Breakaway DJ (link posted above by DJ Buik) as it’s directly geared for low latency DJ use.

May 14, 2010 at 9:07 am #10691AnonymousGuestHi,
Thanks for the responses. I haven’t had a chance to try any suggestions yet. I haven’t even had a chance to find my external USB sound card so I can look up to see if it supports ASIO. The sad part is I can’t REMEMBER the brand so I have to unpack my gear.
I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks,
Dave
May 21, 2010 at 11:54 pm #10692AnonymousGuestHi,
My soundcard is a Gigaport AG. Will that work with ASIO drivers so I can address the latency problem with ots.

May 23, 2010 at 12:31 am #10693MilkyKeymasterTry Breakaway DJ. It works very well with Ots and video.
May 25, 2010 at 2:28 pm #10694AnonymousGuestMilky,
Could you post the settings you use for OTS and Breakaway DJ?
I have Asio4all on my machine, but I’m really having difficulty getting all the settings right.
Thank you,
Dave
ps. If anyone else uses OTS and wants to post screenshots, that would be great.

That is just a fake ASIO interface that ultimately uses Kernel Streaming. So all you’re doing is adding more buffers. You’ll get lower latency by just using the Kernel Streaming already built into Breakaway. 😉May 25, 2010 at 9:27 pm #10696MilkyKeymaster
Milky,
I’ll take screen shots next time I have my gig box cranked up. It is most important to turn off all Ots Dynamics Processor processing, or you will be duplicating it in both programs. Click on the DP icon and unclick AGC, Compressor and Limiter buttons.
In the BADJ setup, click on the "Test" button to show the buffers and the "Jitter" count. The trick is to experiment with different settings, starting with the lowest that will actually play, to reduce this jitter to 10% or less. This will depend on your maqinboard, CPU, amount of RAM etc. If your soundcard has buffer adjustment, it is considered wise to align the buffer count in there with the BADJ buffer count.May 27, 2010 at 11:11 am #10697AnonymousGuestHowdy,
I got rid of ASIO4ALL, uninstalled Breakaway DJ, reinstalled a fresh version and followed the prompts. DONE. Amazed at the difference in audio.
Thanks all for the input.
Dave
latency issue is resolved. OH, BTW the first install I did the wizard did not pop up as it did for the second install.
June 10, 2010 at 9:14 am #10698AnonymousGuestUPDATE!
I’m using an external USB sound card. Until now, all my testing was using the internal laptop sound card and BADJ sounded great.
First gig this past weekend and I inserted the USB soundcard and started OTS DJ. No sound was going to the external card, so I went to the OTS speaker icon and chose my external card and it worked, but without BADJ. What do I need to do to get Breakaway DJ active with my external soundcard.
Thanks,
Dave
June 10, 2010 at 10:03 am #10699MilkyKeymasterOts must be set to Breakaway ASIO. In BADJ, click settings, then I/O. With the USB device inserted, you should see it under the drop down box. Select it and all should be good (although I’m still a newbie at BADJ).
June 13, 2010 at 3:46 pm #10700AnonymousGuestHi,
Opened OTS DJ. Set the Breakaway DJ pipeline 1 as output.
Opened Breakaway and tried to set the output to my Gigaport AG USB soundcard (it was listed as an option) and came up with this error:Error starting audio engine:
Core 1: Unable to open "Gigaport AG"
for output at 48000hz, 2 channels, 16 bits.
Device does not support requested format, or sound device is busyShut down program, unplugged audio card and tried again. Nothing.
Thoughts?
Thank you!
Dave
