Hello,
I’ve been testing BBP for a while now, and it’s awesome! But I’ve got a problem with the stereo. My tuner says I am running with stereo, but I am 100% I am not, since I can’t hear any difference playing mono or stereo, also the Stereo challanger aint working in BBP. I am using the standard onboard soundcard, the Realtek ALC889A. Anyone familiar with this problem? RDS is working, but not great. After 5 hours of broadcasting it stops generating RDS. Program doesn’t crash or what so ever, RDS level is fine ect.
Regards,
Dennis

Did you set the realtek to run at 192k? If the card is running at 48k that would explain it.

so,
1) make your imput " line in" and not microphone in…
2) your RDS software ( airomate ) crashes becuse you use small bufering, ( make it 1 second , who knows! )tell us about your resaults….or buy a new mainboard and cpu .. 🙂
April 11, 2010 at 2:38 pm #10449AnonymousGuestHello,
I am using the line-in. I cannot change the sample rate of the output source(Speakers). When I update the drivers, I can change them, but then my line-in blocks somehow, it is working in the windows sound configuration, but when I select the line-in at BBP, it somehow blocks, and BBP doesnt do a thing. I just need to change the sample rate of the output source, then my stereo should work. Kinda tricky to change them, if I update the drivers again, the line-in blocks somehow. I’ll let you know if I found a solution.
Regards,
Dennis
Update:
Output source is running at 192khz now, and still no stereo 🙁. Any thoughts?
April 11, 2010 at 3:17 pm #10450LeifKeymasterLooks like you’ll need something to measure with, to find out if the sound card is really outputting 192k. If stereo isn’t working now, it must not be. Oscillscope would be ideal. Otherwise, the easiest will be to get a properr sound card like esi juli@ or marian trace alpha.

April 11, 2010 at 4:44 pm #10452greatstartMemberI had a similar problem with my ASROCK motherboard with the onboard Realtek ALC888. In Windows XP, the generic driver is not running the output at 192k. When I installed Vista a year ago, the generic driver ran at 192k. So this looks to be an issue with the XP driver. The hardware supports it, but for some reason, there’s no option to change it to 192k on the XP driver.
The latest Realtek driver has the option of going 192k.
April 11, 2010 at 7:45 pm #10453AnonymousGuestLeif,
Which soundcard do you prefer? The Esi Juli@ or the Marian trace alpha, and why? Since the Esi Juli@ is quite easier to get. I’d like to hear from you.

Dennis

The driver for Vista or Windows 7 ?
Or (now) for XP too ?April 12, 2010 at 2:59 am #10455LeifKeymasterRealtek can do 192k on xp, vista and 7 as long as the hardware supports it. I’m not sure what’s going wrong at this point… It would help to have a scope so you could look at the output. QuickSweep reveals a lot.

Hi Dennis, Marian Trace Alpha is THE ultimate card for BBP as it requires no tilt calibration, it is however a bit pricier than a Juli@ and harder to source (but not impossible). Juli@ would be the second choice but a long way short of the Marian as this does require calibration. It is however about 30-40% cheaper than Marian and easy to get. If you don’t have the know-how, the equipment (an oscilloscope) and an understanding of what tilt is and why it’s important, then buy the Marian for a guaranteed trouble free output.
Hope this helps,
Yorkie.
April 16, 2010 at 4:19 pm #10457AudioMemberHi all,
Would you have any ideas on how to get this sound? The stereo image is quite impressive.
This is Oui FM, a French rock radio:

Let me know what you think.
Thanks!

April 16, 2010 at 5:50 pm #10458LeifKeymasterIt’s not possible to judge the sound of an FM station based on a stream. To match the sound, we’d need an MPX recording off air. MpxTool can do it if you have a tuner with a composite output, but that’s not easy to find. If anyone has an off-air mpx recording rig and lives within range of this station, help is appreciated. 🙂
