I m sorry but i saw it!! and i repeated it 20 times and again and again the same reaction.. 😳
( ONLY THE BROADCAST VERSION, the asio version has no problem with that phenomenon )
when i try to shut down breakaway (only) the system crashes , bluescreen and..restarts..
( i found that shutting down breakaway ..crashes ONLY when i have opened airomate at the same time OR i just opened airomate for a while and closed airomate before or after closing breakaway ..THE SAME..HAPPENED, breakaway crashes the system when i try to shut down breakaway programm
😳check my detailed explanation :
when running breakaway fm broadcast and airomate at the same time on windows 7 64 and trying to shut down breakaway program when i click on shut down on breakaway program system crashes with blue screen and reboots!
😳
attention : when i tried not to run airomate at the same time , breakaway can be shut down properly as normal
when i tried to run airomate and breakaway through breakaway pipelines OR VAC latest version ….it crashes on shut down
when i tried to run breakaway and airomate at the same time BUT not having breakaway listen on breakaway pipeline as rds imput …it crashed again.. ( while airomate was open but not sending to breakaway rds signal )
when i tried to run breakaway only without airomate open at the same time… bbreakaway doesnt crash on shut down (when shutting down breakaway )i am sure that the problem doesnnt have to do with the special breakaway pipelies driver becuse i tried the latest VAC also …and again crashed on shut down
i am sure that the problem doesnt have to do with "breakaway listening on RDS ..through some sound source " becuse even if i setup IO not to have RDS imput through any imput device (including VAC and breakawaypipelines) it crashes again on shutdown..
maiby the problem is more simple : breakaway crashes when i try to shut it down (breakaway ) and run at the same time airoate even if i don’t link the RDS output of airomate to breakaway!!!
😐
sos , !!! himt!
if i start breakaway , and also start airomate.. and close airomate before shutting down the breakaway program… breakaway still crashes when shutting down (breakaway )
but ! if i start breakaway without airomate … breakaway shuts down normaly if i chose to do so.when you make your tests be sure to leave open the 2 programs for more than 1 minute and then try to shut down breakaway..
when running both programs everything is ok, BUT I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SHUT DOWN BREEAKAWAY…becuse i will not be able to shut down the computer normaly if needed..
❓i am running
clean installed windows 7 64biti with latest updates from microsoft windows update ( nothing more the following)
microsoft security essentials latest ver
ESI Julia with latest drivers
Realtek onboard with latest drivers
breakaway broadcast 0.94 registered
Airomate 2.11 registeredplease Leif, make it shut down properly
i uploaded the crash report with txt and dump files from windows 7 64
April 6, 2010 at 8:33 am #10299michi95MemberMaybe it is a stupid question:
Does this occur with version 0.90.93 too, or not ?
(-> install build 93 on top of build 94 and see what will happen).Sorry, if you have done an update from build 93 to build 94.
But it is better to ask one question too much than one question too little.
April 6, 2010 at 9:04 am #10300camcloneMemberI cannot make such tests on that machine again, it’s ON AIR without backup
maiby leif can see if this bug ( blue screen of death ) happens to older versions also..
Leif will make an explanation and..simmulation..
April 6, 2010 at 10:46 am #10301LeifKeymasterCamclone, the bluescreen doesn’t happen on any of my 64-bit machines.
I will take a look at the crash dump, though.
How come you chose Windows 7 64-bit for your critical on the air machine, above something time-proven like XP 32?
Breakaway is a 32-bit app and yields no benefit from a 64-bit system.
Best,

You are the No1 beta tester on the field!!!
From development…to "On Air" ❗ ❗…and without back up 😯

Indeed.. I would not have done this to my station. With computers being as cheap as they are, and me allowing customers to install the software on a backup machine as well, there’s really no excuse not to have a backup if the application really is mission critical.

April 6, 2010 at 7:15 pm #10304camcloneMemberYo! You are right but i " touch " settings and this server only at after midnight hours ( 4 to 5 am ) so , i am not worryed.
I ve got hard disk image backups with all older " setup" to this server , nevermind 🙂Leif, I will check the .95 version to see if it happens tonight,
please take a look to the crash report files i ve send you,
it’s very important to me ( i run breakaway on a brand new machine, with SSD disks and quad core ..)Keep up the good work anyway 🙂
thanks everyoneApril 6, 2010 at 7:53 pm #10305LeifKeymaster///Leif
April 6, 2010 at 8:37 pm #10306camcloneMemberwowowwWOwOWWOwowww!
interesting,
BUT breakaway broadcast is the cause in conjuction with the bad written ESI juli driver..probably.
SOS SOS : breakaway ASIO has no problem on shutting downI installed .95 vers of BB and BB ASIO and again, Breakaway broadcast crashes when i shut it down and run at the same time Airomate ( latest version , i didn’t check older versions)
Breakaway ASIO is ok ( i tested the trial )
any conclusion on this issue ? will you fix it plzzzZzZzzZZZzzz?
April 6, 2010 at 8:52 pm #10307LeifKeymaster
any conclusion on this issue ? will you fix it plzzzZzZzzZZZzzz?
I can’t fix it. The crash isn’t caused by BBP, it’s caused by that driver. It’s actually impossible for an app to cause a bluescreen — only a driver can, and that driver is JulaWDM. It’s a fact of Windows architecture, apps can only crash themselves, not the whole computer. There’s really nothing I can fix — I don’t have access to the Julia driver source code.
It’s only logical that 64-bit audio drivers are buggier and less tested than their 32-bit counterparts, because 32-bit is still the norm, and 64-bit in really not necessary for audio workstations, at least not yet.
I have just ordered a Juli@ so I can test with it more regularly. But, I will be using it with a 32-bit OS.

April 6, 2010 at 9:14 pm #10308camcloneMemberok nevermind, ( you are right, i should use 32 bit win 7 or xp , not 64 …BUT i love my new setup .. 🙂
i will switch to breakaway ASIO , it’s time for real time audio 🙂
thankxxx!
April 6, 2010 at 9:46 pm #10309BokiMemberToo many talk ..
Nothing is better then XP32bit. Not only for breakaway! That Juli@ driver is very new and others have some problems with Win7 64bit too.
Juli@ Driver for XP32bit is proven as stable!
dam’, why people loves how "things" looks, and don’t care how that same "things" works.
April 6, 2010 at 11:05 pm #10310camcloneMemberyou are right again,
i will switch to xp 32 bit as soon as i can.
April 6, 2010 at 11:27 pm #10311LeifKeymasterI actually run Windows 7 32-bit on my development system nowadays, but I do indeed run XP 32-bit (XP Embedded) on any dedicated audio systems.

April 7, 2010 at 5:40 am #10312AudioMemberWe are setting up a new server with Win 2008 R2-64 bits, no audio drivers are involved since the stream is encoded via edcast. Would you still recommend we dump our current OS and go back to Win 2003 32 bits or at least Win 2008 R2-32 bits? What is the ideal software for a server running Breakaway?
Thanks
