got a nice upgrade to Zenith coming down the pipeline… only real thing i need to say about it is that it has the exact same texture and ability to sometimes make over-compressed stuff have more punch…
except…
-A- it sounds even more open now. across the board, but especially in bands 5-6 where upper midrange punch happens like snare hits & such.
-B- at the same time it has almost twice the range. so it can gently apply the sonic texture across a wider spectral imbalance of input audio.
This is not only done without sacrificing the gentleness but it really does sound even more open and transparent now, namely on the transients. It really is making a great thing even greater, and if you’re already a Zenith fan, as I am (it’s almost the only preset I personally ever use), i can promise you that you will love this. Very excited for the Zenith fans to hear this. It’s taking that "not even there" processing sound to the next level.

I need this new release of Zenith preset!
I can’t wait! 😀
March 19, 2010 at 11:54 pm #10164MilkyKeymasterExcellent! I’ve used Zenith since I bought BADJ and I love it.
I have to show my ignorance. How does one go about installing a new or replacement preset?Bring it on!
March 20, 2010 at 3:10 am #10165AnonymousGuestThat’s interesting. Well, I can’t wait to hear it.
March 20, 2010 at 1:24 pm #10166JesseGMemberPending more verification that there’s no problems with it, and that I personally don’t think it reduces the great things about the original……..
It will just be the new Zenith that comes with the next builds of Breakaway. So you don’t have to do anything except wait, and select Zenith from the presets menu. Leif said the presets menu is probably going to be reworked a bit too. Part of this will involve the ability to have way more presets on a small screen (640×480), and a method to select legacy presets & legacy versions of current presets. Just in case someone liked something that was older better.
Very few presets have ever been updated from what was originally publicly available, but Leif still wants to keep ALL of the options open to everyone, as far as using what presets they like. Some previously removed presets might make a comeback too, we’ll have to wait and see.
March 22, 2010 at 4:12 am #10167Dr.JMemberCan’t wait, Zenith is my favourite preset.
March 22, 2010 at 7:21 pm #10168jameskuzmanMemberZenith is my favorite, hands down.
I love the openness and the consistency, often mutually-exclusive qualities, and it works well on so many types of music. LOVE the Zenith 🙂
Sometimes on my smaller system I like Helix with very slow settings because of the texture of the bass in that preset, but I always end up back on Zenith.
I’m very excited to hear the new version.

March 22, 2010 at 8:10 pm #10169timmywaParticipantSeems like a good place for it….
Let’s all list our settings we use with Zenith.
Mine are (Breakaway Enhancer):
Range: 60
Power: 50
Speed: 50
Bass: +13
Shape: +10The increased range helps get more consistency and less fade-out. This preset is light on bass so it helps to boost it a bit and bring it up a little. Otherwise defaults for Power and Speed to let Zenith be Zenith!
April 2, 2010 at 11:49 am #10170LeifKeymasterShouldn’t be too long now.
I will make the old Zenith an obsolete preset (which means it will still be accessible) and the new zenith will be the regular zenith. I know if i don’t, *someone* somewhere will prefer the old one and complain that it’s not available. It never fails… 🙂

April 2, 2010 at 1:48 pm #10171AudioMemberI’m curious… What can we expect to see in the 0.90.94 release?
– New Zenith
– Loud City
– New Eruption (I remember reading it was too "agressive" on the mid range)
– ???Looking forward to this new release! 🙂

New preset from me also if it meets Leif’s approval, called Celeste
Point Blank preset is also getting re-vamped! 😀
April 2, 2010 at 7:49 pm #10174timmywaParticipantLee, tell us about Celeste and Pointe Blank.
April 2, 2010 at 8:27 pm #10175Lee XSMemberHi Timmy,
I’m really excited about the Celeste preset, the only way I can describe it, is if I said it was like Reference Heavy but on steroids! But under the hood, it’s actually nothing like Reference Heavy. If I were to pick a preset that it resembles, I’d say it sounds like Plutonium but with an a sharper edge and very finely tuned timings. In fact, if you A & B it against Plutonium very quickly you’d struggle to notice much difference straight away but throw something very busy at it, then watch it come alive, it sounds more "in front". It’s an FM dedicated to preset to sound loud but super clean, turn the final drive down a few Db’s and it’s equally suitable for web-casting also. It’s non-genre specific and uses 6 bands. 🙂
Point Blank is having some alterations with the tonal balance, mainly the front and back end EQ’s for a more flatter spectral output. 😀
