Hi.
I’m in middle of setting up a streaming radio with Sam Broadcaster, so I’ve seen some of the Breakaway products mentioned.
I am hoping to eventually purchase one of the programs to help me get the highest sound quality possible.
I don’t want to sound too ignorant, but I don’t know much about the Breakaway products.
I actually have a different issue now.
I was setting up the ability to broadcast telephone calls with Skype by using the Virtual Audio Cable program, following a tutorial on the Sam Broadcaster forum.
I was having a lot of static sometimes (it doesn’t happen all the time), and some audio slowdown, with Virtual Audio Cable, and a search led me to a page (http://www.ceaudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=719) where someone mentioned that they had static with VAC, and Leif replied that using one of the Breakaway products can eliminate static.
Can someone help me with more info on how this works and, if using something like this would help eliminate static in my setup, how I would go about setting it up?
And are there any other tips on how to eliminate static and/or slowdowns with Virtual Audio Cable?
I really have no idea how the Breakaway products work, other than knowing that they make the sound quality a lot better, so I have no clue where to start 🙂
Thanks a lot for any assistance, and I hope to eventually be able to use Breakaway with my stream, once I can afford it (and once I know how it works ) 😉January 15, 2010 at 5:04 pm #9696LeifKeymasterBreakaway Pipeline is Virtual Cable, except that it’s "locked" to Breakaway products in a way that it introduces a loud static noise into the cable if no Breakaway products are running.
However, as soon as any Breakaway product is running, all cables are static-free for all programs that use them. So, if you for example installed Breakaway Live (to get the cables installed), and then make sure to keep Breakaway RTA running (which is completely free), you’ve got free static-free cables. 🙂

January 19, 2010 at 5:16 am #9697AnonymousGuestThanks for the info…
So is there any advantage of using the Breakaway version of Virtual Audio Cable?
Or once I have the regular version of VAC, that will work just as well?
I am having static/slowness issues with the regular VAC, where all the audio running through it every so often will all of the sudden start running really slow (kinda sounds like playing a song on really slow speed, and then add static and breakups 😉 ), and breaking up, but I guess that’s a whole different thing.
Does anyone have any ideas how I might be able to get VAC running correctly?
Thanks a lot for the help, and sorry for sticking my OT question into the forum…January 19, 2010 at 10:11 am #9698X-HostedMemberI have the same problems with VAC too isaacl. Running it on Windows Server 2003, its stable for about 5mins and then the audio starts to slow down and hicking indeed!

January 21, 2010 at 5:11 am #9700LeifKeymasterYes! I used to have this very problem as well, also with Breakaway Pipeline, and as far as I’ve seen he has actually solved it in the latest Breakaway Pipeline version. It works great for me now!
As far as I know, he has not released the fix for Virtual Cable.

Thanks!!January 22, 2010 at 6:23 am #9702LeifKeymasterYes 🙂
cheapskate
I told you a free way to do it in my initial response to you. It will allow you to use Breakaway Pipeline with any program for free.
