Hi Leif and all members. Please forgive me if I have put this in the wrong place, and feel free to move it.
I am an OtsAV user and have been for many years. I’m also an Admin on Jeff’s forum. I DJ’d for many years, and also have interestes in both Radio and TV, so I also own the relevant licenses for those Ots products.
I don’t DJ anymore (apart from the odd family party), but I have a purpose-built studio full of equipment to die for. This includes a shiny new HD projector, so I am using the OtsTV version on my sound system, because it has the highest video resolution currently available.Now, here’s the question. I’d like to try your products, but don’t know which would be best suited to my "super high end" listening/viewing environment. The PC driving the audio is a quad core with very fancy video card. It handles 720p with transitions in its sleep. Because of the video, I cannot tolerate any noticeable latency. I read that powerjam and others are pleased with the results from BADJ, but is that the one for me?
January 12, 2010 at 3:22 am #5086LeifKeymasterYes! Breakaway DJ is the answer. Apart from low latency, it also has the 12-band PEQ which (together with the free Breakaway RTA app, and a measurement microphone) allows you to calibrate your speakers.
Best regards,
///LeifJanuary 12, 2010 at 6:49 am #5087MilkyKeymasterThanks Leif.
I ordered a copy and paid for it via PayPal, but the link to download the .exe did not work [not found].
I have grabbed the alpha version for now, from the link on this forum.Given that this is just out of testing phase, what will happen with future updates?

I’m glad we confinced you to use Leif’s products. 😉
January 12, 2010 at 8:50 am #5089LeifKeymasterI never quite know what I’ll think of next, but so far I’m planning for more presets, as well as a 4-deck upgrade option.
I will also of course look into a possible glitch issue while loading a large playlist, reported by a user here on the forum.
So far though, I think it’s working incredibly well for an initial release 😉.

January 12, 2010 at 11:03 am #5090MilkyKeymasterThanks DJ Buik. I’d been "sniffing around" for quite some time, but was concerned with the video latency. I am pleased to report that, with a video running at 720p, plus BADJ, the CPUs just make it to 30% on a transition and there is no discernible lag. I even watched a Phil Collins drum solo, and the audio was there just as he hit the skins.
Just noticed a minor glitch. If you pull up the I/O configuration screen, the mouse pointer disappears behind it so you can’t see what you are pointing at. The buttons still highlight as you hover over them behind the screen. Similarly, on the PEQ screen, if you are sliding one of the controls left or right and another screen gets focus in front, the slider still acts as though the left mouse button is depressed, so if you move the mouse to respond to the new pop-up screen, the faders on the PEQ screen still react.
Is there a way to reset the PEQ back to their defaults? I notice a vertical button, but it doesn’t seem to do anything.
Similarly, if I fiddle about with (say) the plutonium setting, and I mess it all up, is there a way to reset it back to what it was originally?
