Friends
I am running the latest Breakaway 1.0.1 on a IBM Thinkpad T61P, with Vista Ultimate SP1, and experience the following:
If I put my computer in Sleep mode, and then start using it again (lift the lid and press the on button), I get an error message at the Vista login page. The error message is something about Breakaway and memory location. Sorry, I cannot tell you the exact message right now. I would need to write it down. If it is essential, then I can write it down, unless it can also be found somewhere on the computer. Not sure where to look though.
Then I click ok to get past that message, and give my pw to log in to the Vista. Then if I start my WinAmp then no sound is heard. The next thing that happens is that the Breakaway icon in the right corner disappears, and still not sound. Ok, then I go to the Start menu and find Breakaway, and start it from there, and then things work fine again.
Anything I can do to not get this? Besides every time shut down Breakaway when putting my laptop to sleep, or just not using the Sleep mode?
Thanks

This is a known bug which seems to affect certain systems. I’m working on a solution, but in the meantime, here’s a workaround:
Go into the Breakaway Settings (right-click the Main Window and choose Settings) and uncheck "Audio Realtime Priority".
This will keep breakaway as a single process instead of two, and is much less likely to cause problems on sleep / hibernate.
Please let me know if this workaround works for you 🙂.

Thanks for your good reply. Unfortunately I had that setting already unchecked. 🙁
I checked it and will let you know if that makes any difference, although you are saying that having it checked might actually cause this error. 😕Here is the full error message:
BreakawayUtilityWindow_0xBA31337:Breakaway.exe – Application ErrorThe instruction at 0x00ffffff referred memory at 0x00fffffff. The memory could not be read. Click Ok to terminate…
Let me know when there is a solution, unless now of course this me checking that "Audio Realtime Priority" will solve the issue. 😆

I think that ACTIVATING the "Audio Realtime Priority" solved the problem. At least now a moment ago, when I started my laptop from the sleep mode, the Breakaway worked just fine.
Funny, is it not? 😯
I had the WinAmp open with a paused video file loaded when I put the computer in sleep mode, if that makes any difference for you trying to figure out the reason for this.
I also have the Adaptive SRC checked.Have a good Labour Day. 🙂

It’s basically random.
I specifically wrote support for Sleep / Hibernation into Breakaway, and it works by does this by shutting down the audio engine before hibernating, and re-starting it after hibernating.
The problem is (as far as I understand it), I severely underestimated how long it may take for an average system to resume from Hibernation and become responsive again. Thus, a part of Breakaway’s audio engine times out, and things go downhill from there. I’m working on a robust solution.

I wish you success when fixing that problem. 😀
I assume that you will send out information whenever there is a new version.
