I was getting slight crackling and sound as though it were being driven on a gravel rock road…using a soundblaster 24 input, xp pro, pentium d, 2.0 gig, I believe, 512 meg of ram…downgrading back to .77 fixed it entirely. Not a big deal…it’s the first hint of any sound issue I’ve ever had with one of your products. I know others had reported closely related issues w/.82. Cheers! 😀
August 26, 2009 at 11:06 am #8175LeifKeymasterSounds like it could be a problem in my audio i/o code.. Damn it!
What operating system and version are you using, Sgeirk?

August 26, 2009 at 1:32 pm #8176sgeirkMemberThe machine that had troubles is a early dual core (Pentium D), XP Pro Service Pack 2, 512 meg of ram (i know, right?). 😆
What’s weird is that it’s running .82 just fine on a SINGLE CORE Pentium IV XP Pro 2002, Service Pack 3, with a gig of ram!
Both are using soundblaster live 24 soundcards as the input. (yeah, I know, right?) 😆
August 26, 2009 at 1:45 pm #8177LeifKeymaster512mb of ram is PLENTY.
Using a sound blaster, on the other hand, isn’t a great idea. But, if 0.90.77 works, then 0.90.82 should too. I’ll look into it.

I can only imagine the headache it must be for Leif when it works on some and not others, and sometimes works on others but not some, and maybe vice versa….ouch that hurts the brain 🙂
August 26, 2009 at 2:26 pm #8179LeifKeymasterCoffee and tylenol, dude. 🙂
The worst thing about being an engineer is that when you’ve done everything right, when everything works perfectly, nobody even notices! There’s literally thousands of things that could possibly go wrong with Breakaway, because it’s extremely complicated under the hood, even it looks easy on the surface.. So, all things considered, I think we’re doing pretty good. Of course, I won’t be happy either until it’s at 100%, so this means it will never ever actually get done. Ah well, I guess I know what I’ll be doing the rest of my life. 😉

Actually it always turns into "what can you do next" without even a moments thought to what was just done.
(sigh) … the banal existence of us lowly engineers’…August 26, 2009 at 5:12 pm #8181LeifKeymasterHere’s something that used to annoy me before, but which I’ve turned into a good thing:
It never fails – when you’ve worked for months on something, blood sweat and tears, and finally it all works, and you show it to someone and they complain about the colours..
When that happens, i now say "Thank you!", and of course ignore their comment. Because, if that’s all they could find to complain about, obviously I’ve done a hell of a job — everything else must be perfect 😀.

August 26, 2009 at 5:32 pm #8182sgeirkMemberOh trust me, when I tried BBP for the very first time and plugged in that exciter to a soundcard…I clearly realized when something worked right…in fact I about hit the FLOOR.

Am i the only one who, in pure bliss , floated to the roof… and bumped my head ?
Without any BS… next month i’ll attend the IBC in Amsterdam.. the international broadcast convention, which i go to every year for quite some time now… I NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE BREAKAWAY there.
So Leif…. Well Done!

This is true, but wasn’t Linear Acoustic there? Well, they will be this year.
August 28, 2009 at 11:03 am #8186LeifKeymasterThey will be, but not showing an FM processor 😉.
