    Leif,

I have setup BBP and the new Pipelines seem to be very stable.

When lining up the input levels with the new input meters I find no matter what I set them to the AGC brings them back up anyway.

I am having trouble relating to how the ITU loudness meters on the imput reflect the loudness of the output. I downloaded the RTA on your site but noticed no matter how I wound the input down the AGC(s) corrected for the level and gave me the same readings on the output (RTA) no matter what I did.

Maybe I need to experiment more to see how input loudness readings relate to output loudness readings.

    Any clues?

Also I notice the new advert that plays from the software calls your website "Closson Edwards" (as it sounds) the previous one, which I think was Jesse said "Clayson Edwards" (as it sounds), which I thought was right.

I did an mp3, but it was never in any of the compiles.

    Hi Scotty!

You’re absolutely right — and that means it’s working! Even with drastically different input levels, Breakaway will yield a uniform output level.

If you want to retain some level differences, try lowering the "Power" slider, which actually decreases the ratio of both agc and multiband.

Regarding my name, the correct pronounciation (Swedish name) is actually "Clawson", however when I moved to the states I figured I’d pick my battles carefully, and just say "Clayson", while instead insisting that my first name not be pronounced "Leaf", which I can’t stand.

The vowel diphtong in my name (Leif) is actually the same exact diphtong as the "ay" in "Clayson" so that makes it nice and easy for english speakers.

Of course, for Thais, all bets are off. They don’t have that diphtong at all, so there’s just no way to get it right 😉.

    Leif,

    Thanks for the reply.

I thought the Loudness Meters were put on the input to help calibrate the loudness of the output. I ‘may’ have read that on this forum, or dreamt it one night. 🙂

So now I can’t understand why you’d have the Loudness Meters on the Input and not the Output. I am sure I mentioned this in another thread and I am even sure you answered it so I’ll see if I can search that answer out.

Every 3 or so days I get a WinLicence Error and when I restart the machine it runs fine again for a few more days. I’ll try an uninstall and reinstall when I get some time and see if that goes away.

Maybe you can replace the ad in Breakaway with the one that I heard from Jesse that says "Clayson". 🙂

WHOA! Not good. This is the first I’m hearing of it — please send me a screenshot, I need to forward that to them asap.

The ITU loudness meters in Breakaway do not reflect the loudness of the output, they reflect the loudness of the Input — and really they’re just a mixing / level setting aid. The old meters were peak-only and would be fooled by compression and limiting — that is, loudly mastered things would peak at the same level as sensibly mastered things, but receive much more gain reduction inside the breakaway core. The new meter tells the truth — if the input is loud, that’s what they show. 🙂

If you want an ITU Loudness meter on the output, check out Breakaway RTA. It’s free, and has one built in. 🙂

    Leif,

[quote author=”Leif”]WHOA! Not good. No problems at all with that, except it reinstalled the older version Pipeline.

As I was using Pipelines direct from the playout outputs to test it then all I could do to control the input to Breakaway was add plenty of Attenuation plugins.

I’ll get some time to reinstall 0.90.77 and capture a screenshot of that error.

I’m wondering what the recommended levels for input are. Right now I have it hovering around -12db with peaks licking up to about -6db. Is that close or is there even a "sweet spot" to worry about?

By the way, I’m using Breakaway Live webcasting and driving a slightly modified FM Ipod transmitter. Sounds great around the house!

Aim for the white line, as long as peaks *never* hit the ceiling.

If peaks are getting close to the ceiling without the loudness reaching the white line, then lower the ITU ref level. This lowers the white line, and adjusts several processing parameters to compensate.

    Best,

Thank a steaming heap Leif. I was an Omnia fan for years, but you’ve converted me.

Aw, thanks 🙂. I’ll be sure to tell Frank next time I see him 😀.
