Finally an update for Breakaway Broadcast! New presets, new meters, several usability improvements, and a few bug fixes.

    Breakaway Broadcast Processor 0.90.79

    Version 0.90.79:

    • Noise Reduction now selectable for every preset!

    Version 0.90.77

    • Point Blank preset updated!
    • L/R Tilt coefficient bug fixed
    • Nod32 false positive fixed
    • Breakaway Pipeline version conflict problem fixed

    Version 0.90.75:

    • Problem with high DPI settings in Windows 7 Aero fixed
    • Improved performance when changing to presets with different number of bands

    Version 0.90.74

    • New presets – Rustonium, Point Blank, Quintessence. Amsterdam much improved, Twente much improved!
    • RDS phase shift problem fixed
    • RDS auto level compensation added. 100% mod is now 100% mod. If you have 8% pilot and 4% RDS, BBP will now give you 88% audio, to maintain 100% mod!
    • Improved tilt correction. Now has a coefficient slider which you can use to move the tilt frequency down, and straighten out.
Be Careful! Lower coefficients (which help straighten out lower frequency squarewaves without arching) require MUCH more headroom, or they will jump out and bite you in the behind (and cause output clipping) when you least expect it. Turn down the MPX Ref level, and play some bass heavy stuff and make sure you never get clipping.
    • ITU BS.1770 input meters! Allows you to easily set the input level right, regardless of the peak-to-average ratio of the cut you’re playing
    • New version of Breakaway Pipeline included, which works much better on dual and quad core systems. To get the new version of the pipeline, you must UNINSTALL all previous breakaway products, and reboot your machine, and then run the new Breakaway installer. It will not upgrade an existing pipeline, because if it’s still on your system, the old one must be working fine already. So, if the old pipeline is working fine, don’t worry about it! No need to reboot or uninstall, just install the new one on top.

    Enjoy! 🙂

Ok! The new version up and running at a local Dutch radio station.
The pipelines worked ok so I just installed it over the old one.
After installation it also detects the activation so we wore about 10 seconds off air 😉

    Leif: Perfect job !!

10 seconds off of the air. try to flash the firmware & restart a DSP-based hardware unit that fast! 😆

Oh, I thought I would add that this update of the Breakaway Professional product line includes a preset that myself and Leif worked on for a long time, called Rustonium. It’s a combination of the bass and treble of Plutonium, and the midrange and dynamics stability of Rusticity. If you don’t "need" to be quite as loud as New York, especially outside of 75uS markets, it’s an absolutely fantastic preset for almost any format. (although it sounds half decent with +3db drive, or slightly more)

The main thing I wanted to comment on about it, is that if you have the Rustonium preset selected, and set the low-pass filtering to 11kHz or lower, it switches to a tweaked version of the preset for low bandwidth transmission formats…. such as AM!!! I also recommend adjusting the roll-off for the low-pass filtering to take some of the edge off of the very top edge of the spectrum. We purposly made the low-bandwidth tweaked version quite sharp edged on the very top of the spectrum so that you can make it as edgy or as mellow as you want using the roll-off.

And there’s a few updated presets and a few other new presets by a few other new members in the preset team. 8) They may decide to comment on their presets here.

    Hmm, allright 😉

What is changed? I didnt had much time to listen yesterday, but in the 5 minutes i tried the new version, it sounds like the low/high end is improved, it sound more ‘solid’.. am i right? Do you have any details on what’s specifically changed?

It used to pump audibly (intentionally) and be really top-heavy and have excessive bass clipping. All those aspects should be significantly improved. Basically I tweaked it to sound GOOD, whereas the old version was tweaked to sound like 3FM.

I tested the point blank preset a few days .

The agc seems to have a problem when a bassdrum kicks in .
Like this song from Capella – You and me
Its pumping and breathing , i moved the sliders but no results .

Greetings, there is in actual fact, an update for the Point Blank preset already but I didn’t get it over to Leif in time to have it ready for this release.

Appie, I’m not familiar with that specific track, so can you please upload a processed sample of the problems you are having to just to ensure that it’s not happening in the updated preset. In the mean time I’ll see if I can get hold of the track so I can upload a clip of it with the new preset.

Any more suggestions are welcome. 🙂

Appie, I’ve managed to source the track now and after a very brief listen, I couldn’t hear anything out of the ordinary that the "other" presets weren’t doing. Can you be more specific?
