Some time ago I sent Leif an email about a few things one of which was being able to use a midi controller to control functions in B-One and he sent an answer back and had mentioned its all http events and so on and could be done with maybe a python event script and a few other thoughts so here's where I am at.
I use VDJ pro with virtual cable to the hd via kernel streaming, and a Xonar DX card for my asio and this has run flawlessly with every version of breakaway since it's beginning 10 years or more ago and it runs rock solid stable at 2ms and sounds amazing.
I have had my eye on a Korg nanoKontrol-studio midi controller for a while and finally found a nice used one, and I have everything the way I want it for all the functions I want except for 2 things. I would like to use one of the sliders on the korg to control the asio input on the diversity mix like a mic gain. When I mute the asio gain, I have virtuallly no noise floor and the card at spec claims -114db. If i use an external mixer, then I have a noise floor of about -60db. I am using a DBX 286A on the input to the Xonar DX with a padded pot to control the mic gain as it is. if I could use the midi controller to control B-One it would be a lot cleaner and easier.
I would also like to use one of the sliders on it to control the main speaker output. From there i can use any device and route it any way I want and have all my audio functions on the Korg. Would be even better if I could use some of the extra buttons not being used to turn encoders on and off and so on but that's gravy if it could be done but not necessary I'd be totally happy with just the sliders for those two functions.
Now here is my problem. I am semi retired and spent all my career years in broadcasting keeping a lot of old iron running when everyone else was learning code. I can do RF and analog formulas for about anything from transmitters and antenna systems to designing buildings and facilities in my head but I know absolutely nothing about code and am a bit typing challenged anyway and i am also sure I am not the first person that had this type of idea.
So if anyone has found a scripted way to do this, or has done it already or knows of a way, I would love to know more. Korg has software that can globally edit and mod any function of the controller the way it needs to be for almost everything except http events. Leif had mentioned Eventghost but there is no midi plugin for it. I also looked at rtpMIDI and that might work for the link the same way virtual cable does for audio but there would still need to be some sort of code at one end or the other to make B-one appear or be translated from as a midi device and not http, I see a couple ways to do it, I just dont know how to script the final pieces of it.
This could be a handy thing and probably not that hard for someone that knows code. I'll be watching if anyone wants to try it ill be the test animal for it. Thanks in advance. ;D
