I am hoping to find a solution to the issues I am having =-) Ok, I use Station Playlist to stream. When I play music, everything sounds really good, at pretty much any level going into BreakawayOne. Now when I do voice tracking , not so much. However, listening from Station Playlist directly to the Audient ID 22. All audio plays fine with no distortion artifacts. Now when I switch the audio path to BreakawayOne via the Virtual Audio Cables, only the voice tracks sounds distorted. I say distorted because the audio is not clipping. When looking at voice tracks in adobe audition they are not clipped in any way. I do not process the voice track in any way. No compression, limiting are used.  I have tried a variety of different ideas, for example , routing the output of Adobe Audition through VAC to BreakawayOne to see if the issues is still there. And unfortunately I get the same results, with voice only, even if I record the audio, peaking at -24dbfs in Adobe. The only thing doing it this way was the increased noise floor, which I expected to see as the rercording level was too low I did not have the issue when I used Breakaway Live for some reason, at least I did not notice it. Of course that was on a XP computer. Now Windows 10, which I am not a fan of. So I am curious if anyone has an idea as to what may be going on.

    What I use:
    Windows 10 Pro
    Audient ID22
    Shure SM7B

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Can you share a snippet of the voice/s in question that you're experiencing distortion with (preferably ~30 sec wav), and also the preset that you're using?

Thanks for the response =-) I am using the LEIFF preset, unaltered for this sample. I will include the raw voice and the processed audio. All the setting are at default position for this. Wave files exceeded file limit at 30 seconds , so I have to use Drop box 🙂 This was done on the fly, meaning as quick as possible =-)

Hi, i have the same problem/challenge with voicetracks.
Music sounds amazing, but (mono) voicetracks are just a bit distorted.

Anyone has any tips or tricks maybe.

Listening to it, I think it mostly sounds upper-mid heavy.

One thing to note: LEIFF does not at all mean Leif's recommended or favorite preset.. Quite the contrary, I can't really stand it.. it's meant to emulate the sound of the GREGG preset in an Optimod. Greg -> GREGG, Leif -> LEIFF, get it? :). It's supposed to be strident and in your face because the original preset is.

Are you using any voice processing? It usually works wonders to disable it completely. All you really need is pre-amp, and perhaps a bit of EQ. If you could apply a single band of parametric EQ to just the voice, let's say 3 KHz 1.5 Octaves -3.0dB, I think you'll be there.
