    Hey,

Is there a way to adjust the max output level of the audio feeding the streaming encoders? I have the output of one feeding a DAB+ feed (via an MP2 stream) and the max level from BAone is 0dBFS which is causing a lot of clipping. I would like to be able to reduce this by a couple of 2dB  to add some headroom to the DAB+ feed.

Is that possible in BAone currently?

    Thanks

It's currently not possible, but there is automatic attenuation that's happening based on codec & bitrate & sample rate.

I'll mention to Leif that it is a good idea to have an "additional attenuation" control.

Btw… are you running very dense audio into the codec?  What DAB+ encoder are you using?

I think that would be a good addition. It isn't a particularly dense preset, but every second or so the encoder clips a little. Also to get streaming loudness correct I've had to run the audio out through a virtual audio able to an additional streaming encoder in order to attenuate it.
I'm encoding with the ODR-DabEnc tool.

Thanks, I appreciate the quick response.

What are the loudness regulations where you're broadcasting DAB+?

What are your thoughts about using the headroom to have additional dynamics? 🙂 I know from experience that it can greatly reduce the artifacts with ample dynamics into the modified FDK encoder that's in that.

Apologies for the slow reply, seems I forgot to turn on email alerts.

No specific loudness requirements as such and no reason not to reduce the level into the limiter (which does reduce the number of artefacts, but does not eliminate them)

However, I would rather avoid any artefacts at all by dropping the entire output a couple of db for the DAB feed, and by 6db or so for the web stream (I would be aiming for about -14LUFS there).

Thanks for all your help this this by the way.
